Default My '86 for Sale on Bring-A-Trailer

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1986-porsche-928s-46/

Only a few more days and I think it's going to go pretty cheap, unfortunately. Prussian Blue with Manual Transmission.

Early '86 32v with all the goodies (Porken chip, S4 FPR, new fuel lines, rebuilt MAF, etc.) and a brand new clutch. She's a great runner, unfortunately my garage is VERY full so a bunch of my babies have to go.

Any questions feel free to PM me or post on BAT. Thanks!

It is parked in front of Auto Sport Inc., a Porsche Indy shop in Shrewsbury (not exactly known for 928 work, btw.)

If I was a bettin' man, I would bet that there's an interesting story here...

It is a nice color, but a wash or two may wash it off. Looks like Earl Schieb job - the black beading appears to have been painted. Still a good price for a running S4, but at 300K plus miles, it will need $10 to $15K to get it right, but it will never be worth more than it is now.

Hard to argue except that it’s more like $20-$25k in parts me thinks. At 300k miles you can bet that every single piece of rubber in the suspension is done. Also, at 300k miles I couldn’t argue against anyone that thinks it’s a good idea to ‘do’ the short block. The thrust bearing pretty much has to be ‘wafer thin’ at this point.

All that said, if a PPI shows no signs of poorly-repaired body damage, then this might be a not-bad starting point for a DIY multi-year restoration. Running S4s in this price range seem to be father and fewer between now? 10 years ago, that would have sat around at $1000 +/- $200 asking.

Wow, when I saw that nice blue, I first almost fell off my chair! Then I saw it was a marginal repaint and an auto...

That saved me from buying a 3rd 928.... LOL
