So what did you do to your 928 Today......

I either got the baffle from Mark or Carl. I don't really remember.
928 International has one here: http://www.mailordercentral.com/928i...928 107 139 07
Not sure if Carl still carries them. You'll need to check out his website.
The intent of the GTS baffle is to keep oil at the pickup under hard conering conditions, when the oil is forced to one side of the pan.
I beleive it might also stop some oil from sloshing back to the rear of the pan under hard acceleration a bit, so it might also cut down on the foaming.
It's not as good as a dry sump or accusump but for under $40.00 it's cheap insurance against the oil pump running dry.
Drill and tap 5 straight holes and it's in.

Super Bright LEDs and AutoLumination.
Give me a day or two to do the write-up; I'll provide details on exactly what to get, the rationale behind those choices, and a few tips for things (mostly minor) to do to get things to fit and operate nicely.

Drove the S4 today...thought it was still blowing a bit of cool air with the A/C...NOPE. Guess it is time for a recharge...every 3 years or so is not to bad I guess. Jim...can you help me?
Also found a nice red transparent plastic to put over the white fiber optic strip to make the "928" red ALL THE TIME on EURO85! YEA! Look for that over on the illuminated sill plate thread.

the gauge set I have has been used fir R134 so the residue is not compatible with R12 unless someone has a way to flush it out. We could use just cheapo fill hoses (no gauge set) and just go by weight if you have R12.

Not feeling particularly ambitious this evening but wanting to make some progress, I performed a really radical upgrade: replacing the amber LED backlighting for the intensive windshield washer switch with a nice white LED (note that the switch backlighting was almost certainly intended to be white, but I don't think white LEDs existed in 1990).
Strangely enough, a tree frog showed up to help me with this task. I have no explanation for this.
The old amber LED:
In with the new one:
Test #1, PC board only:
After reinserting the PC board into the switch assembly, it wasn't lighting the switch uniformly, so I tried bending the LED's leads:
That pretty much did it. Test #2 after reassembly:
You can imagine the sense of satisfaction I got after completing this gargantuan task.

With a bad back no under car work sadly....still, with free time I wanted to check a few things off the list.
With the hood off, and easy access to the rear of the engine bay, I pulled the small washer tank to clean it and test the motor. Washed the tank with Superclean, and as expected 23 years of nastiness came out. Also took apart the small motor assembly to clean its parts - also nasty and caked with grime. Tested the motor with a 1.5V D battery - it worked! Finally tossed the motor in a zip-lock bag with rice to sit for a couple of days to make sure any water that might have gotten in the motor during cleaning dried quickly.
Also took the opportunity to replace the HVAC resistor pack since I have the random magic blower syndrome. Using an iPhone camera I was able to snap a photo of the old pack which is missing its casing. Since its a pricey item, I'll need to see if there is anything else to check out before I just throw money at this problem
