Again, James-
YOU ARE THE MAN!

I am thinking that I should just donate my car to your ranch, so that it can live in infamy...

I finally finished up the AC system and have cold air, or colder air considering I had none at all before

I also did an air pump delete, swapped out the vacuum operated heater valve for a petcock version and installed a hood liner. Looking at the to do list it still seems mighty long

Jim that hood liner is awesome.

I mounted my PS pump and 200 amp alt.
Started to mount the AC but had to look for the pup as he got off the leash on Deb.
He gets to spend the night at the SPCA.

Heres some pics of my mess.

Jim,

Just like eating an elephant bro...one bite at a time... just keep it up! With each successive project the list gets shorter! You are doing good work my friend! On your car AND MINE! Thanks so much for your help. The windows seem to be working when prior to the relay swap they would not have been working! YEA!!! LOVE IT!

Stressed that my AC system (mostly compressor) was not playing well with my plan to be charged enough for SITM (loses r134a charge after about 1 month). Massive squealing coming from the area proved to have been loose belt and a need for application of "Belt Dressing" from AutoZone. I thought it was the compressor offering it's last groans of life! It's more than likely stretched belt after TB/WP replacement and the dubious AutoParts store V-BELT instead of a conti because 1990+ cars are special with a 13x1080 belt vs 13x1125 that one of the vendors here sent me

The bright side is I now have really read every AC thread and also figured out that the prior compressor was a Japan Rebuild by DENSO. I fully plan on redoing the whole thing but I have a couple other items ahead of it in the queue.

The best is the petcock I installed in place of the Heater Valve means instantly COLD air when starting up and, if the "Millenium Falcon" holds itself together , my kids and I will have an EXTRA enjoyable trip to/from SITM.

I drove it for 220kms as the final installation run after a long long winter and intake rebuild......she purred perfectly.

So much so my mind started to think of other mods;

new radio with ipod connectivity

lighter steering pump from the newer model

pick up the new to me Carrera III rims and tyres

contemplate Colins big cams etc etc

Took the console apart to see what was up with the radio and clock. As suspected, radio is kaput. PO had disconnected everything, and taped up all the hot wires. Reconnected everything and the antenna went up and heard some cracklin from the speakers, but no life from the radio. I'm debating whether I buy a Blaupunkt Bamberg on German Ebay to keep the car stock, or go with a new radio (and trim the console, which is not appealing).

Got the clock working, I just had to replug in one of the spade connectors. There was tape on the end, so either the connector is loose and the PO was trying to keep it working, OR he unplugged the clock on purpose. The second possibility worries me a bit. I'm hoping he wasn't trying to eliminate unneccesary electric draws because of some gremlins. So far, the car's been running great.

Oh! I hadn't seen this option described before. I just replaced the switch on mine... If it fails again, I'll definitely consider this approach!

Drilled and Tapped the 84 Oil Pan for GTS baffle and installed it. Will bolt the oil pan on later, after I take care of some yard work.

installed an aftermarket muffler. apparently my pumpkin's baffles had rusted out. still solid, no leaks, but the exhaust note and burbling sounded like they were coming from an empty garbage can. this muffler is still a bit loud, but nice tone. may have to find a suitable replacment for the stock resonator. PS. Y pipe, cat bypass a couple years ago.

out with the old.

in with the new. hmm... now I can see where those rear turbo system go.

next up? new fuel filter, pump, hose, tank strainer.

waiting on new Jager shift ****.

sending interior items to Paul Champagne to restore my steering wheel in two tone to match interior. more pics to come as each project completed.

Default S4 front suspension dismantle

Tried to dismantle "used" S4 front suspension. Disc won't let go! Potentially a nice set for upgrading the brakes from my 1978 928 non-S, but now it looks like something Will Smith dragged out of an alien spaceship.

regarding the above comments about radios. I installed a blaupunkt Deerborn w/aux-ipod jack in my '84 to replace the old Montery. direct plug compatible to existing wiring and stock amp. looks and sounds great and with the aux jack can play whatever tunes I want from my ipod.

hard to see where I installed the aux jack just under the vol **** on the radio, behind the shifter's ****.

I ordered through:

Hey Bob--

Will that fit that nicely in an '82? Not sure if there were any differences in the console such that mine would have to be altered.

swstereo is in the Amboys, which is a nice hour in the 928 for me. I plan on going to see them if I don't buy a stock stereo and just plug it in. Seems like you recommend them, did you get a good deal?

CDR220 would be a GREAT CHOICE! I LOVE MINE! I have an iPod cable hooked to it and Jim C did the faceplate mod so you can see the display from the drivers seat! Freakin' AWESOME!!!
