Sue and I dove into the timing belt job on the GTS today, taking things apart enough to make a shopping list. The water pump was a genuine factory pump (literally) with 16.5K miles, we were hoping it would be good for many more.

But alas, spinning it by hand with the belt off sounded just like a bad bearing, and it went "klick klunk" when the pulley was wiggled-- about .010" side-play at the pulley.

The engine water-passages look nice and clean, that's nice!

Anybody need a gen-yoo-wine factory water pump, low miles and only one owner??
I've also got a timing belt with only 500 miles on it, sounds like a raffle prize to me!

Default Did wheel dust cap surgery!

Surgery... Take one of these:

to one of these (front wheel dust cap):

leaves these:

and then these fit on the front wheels:

Results in this:

Removing the center caps was uber easy, large chisel and a ball peen hammer, tap, turn hub, <rinse and repeat>

Yikes, did you cut those while they were on spindle? I just tapped lightly with a hammer to flatten and mine fit.

Installed 21" fan belt (after attempting to use a 20") to eliminate a very noisy air pump that is not connected to anything and has not been for a long time... Also replaced a defective relay in the interior fan circuit, now have multispeed fan,....installed a new thermistor assembly on the alternator cooling hose, but sadly still no AC.....have done no troubleshooting of the HVAC yet, just complain about it not working....on the to-do list....behind a bunch of other things...discovered the diaphrams in the vacuum acutators are both expensive and hard to come by...and hard to access also....

No, I removed them both, put in a vise and cut with the die grinder shaving off a hair over 1/4", used metal file to remove rought edges, cleaned un and reinstalled using a block of wood and a ball peen hammer.

Had zero issues removing them using a large chisel, put tip under the lip and tapped with the hammer rotating the hub 3-4 times or so as I went.

Fixed my A/C in both the S4 and the truck. And then mowed the lawn. Been a non money making day today, but fun.

Got a raise and promoted to manager, now trying to figure out whether to buy new seats or a Jager assembled aluminum shift plate.

Andy, congrats! I'd just like to have a regular paying job! LOL! Hoping the current gig I am working on will work out well, but that jury is still out on that! Looking pretty good so far though. Once again CONGRATS ANDY!

As for what I did to my car today...

Thanks 928 Specialists Dave and Jeannie Roberts for getting the AWESOME Can-Can RED floor mat set to me for EURO85...EXACTLY what I was looking for and hoping for! SO, I put them in that car...

Then I took that car and the GPW '94 GTS out along with a B-E-A-UTIFUL young woman and took LOTS of pics of the three of them together! VERY NICE DAY FOR SURE!!!

Maybe a Perfex EngineGuardian is in the cards? You considering PorkTensioner?
