Put LED bulbs in the cluster, epoxied a nut into the hole where the PO broke the thread nut out of the pod, found a switch (now known to be the cruise cancel switch) crammed under the air duct while looking for the ground point.

Small thing.
Removed the crumbling liner of the rear hatch lock mechanism and replaced with a new one from Peter Vik.

Took it out of the garage and took it for a good long drive. It was a hot day in NL today, but thanks to the HVAC diaphragm fix (with condoms, check my other post :-)) the A/C was super cool.

Everything worked as it should, no warning lights, just perfect driving. Life is good!!

Default Upper control arm boot replacement

Replaced the torn upper control arm boot on my 89. Not a terribly hard job, but make sure to install the smaller ring onto the lower part of the boot on the bench and then install it on the control arm. The larger ring is much easier to install.

Drove over to Michaelathome's place. Swapped in his fan controller box and both of my cooling fans worked! Saw and drove his really nice 89 S4 save-and-restore/upgrade project. Now I want a RMB and adjustable Konis. Gotta stay focused on necessary things first. He didn't show me his vibrator, but maybe he will let me borrow it.

Now I just need to connect the brain to the nervous system

Old wires "past their use-by date" , most certainly. Liquid insulation only buys a few weeks.

And the patient had no symptoms , despite this degree of pathology
