Snuk off from working on the house (after wiring the main to the sub-panel in my shop)...and dropped the fuel tank so I can remove the crapola vent hose I made, so I can install the right one...the rigged one keeps kinking.

Didn't do much but everyone around me did. Thanks to everyone at Brads yesterday for doing my engine mounts and other small bits that were needed. Felt really weird not doing the work myself and seeing everyone else doing it.





Earlier in the day I was having some injector issues and this is what I found.

Started the TB/WP tear down. My mail lady dropped off the airpump bracket today for the PorKen tensioner. I can finally get started, just put her on the lift.

Had about 1 inch snow Saturday, but all melted off buy late Sunday. Unseasonably warm in New England (55 degrees) today, so took the 91 GT to work , clocked about 100 miles for the day, felt great, sounded great, hopefully will get a few more in this week as the weather is very mild. .before the real winter is here..

Removed the driver side front suspension in preparation for new upper a-arm and lower bearing. Swapping out shocks as will with Koni adjustables. Man that was tougher than I expected after reading on RL. 10-20 minutes was really 1-2 hours. Now I need to get the bearings separated from the rotor/brake assembly to finish that side up on disassembly. Need a new tool for that

Used the "drop the lower control arm" method to remove the passenger side strut/coil. That was a PITA!! Again, 1 hour not 10 minutes. 2 people would have really cut the time down.

Next few days I'll just be cleaning parts. Ran out of Dawn and Simple Green.

Began the epic steering rack bushing replacement job. OK I know it's a small job for most of you but it's the most ambitious mechanical thing I've yet attempted on this car. I may also take the opportunity to check out the flex plate - I don't think the cover has ever been off since the car was new.

While raising the car to insert jack stands, my Powerbuilt aluminum floor jack was acting like it was low on oil. As I was adding the oil, I noticed that one of the bolts holding the jack together was a little loose. I started looking closer and found that nearly all the bolts were loose, and a few had backed out several turns. Yikes!

Got the lower control arm bearing loose with a pickle fork but upper control arm is stuck. Guessing that PB Blaster and a Dremmel will get that squared away. My guess it that the previous front quarter hit damaged it, go figure. Driver side is loose and passenger side is tight.

Getting there...

Next is to swap out coils on passenger and driver struts.

Took the clothing steamer to the purple tint in the rear three windows, got it out in big sheets, fairly easy, then faced the glue resid remaining on the glass. Methanol wouldn't touch it, naphtha (lighter fluid) so-so, then switched to acetone. Acetone worked really well! The steam that condensed on the interior panels dries to tan color, with adhesive residue. Gentle microfiber with acetone lifted that too. Will put some lustre back into the vinyl with boiled linseed oil and lacquer thinner 40:60 v/v. I have a lot more to learn about interior detailing, want to do a little magenta re-dye on the top of the pod, where the sun has bleached it a little. Need also to source Krylon aerosol clear matte-finish to cover the shiny dash resulting from the linseed:thinner restorative, hard to find this in Calgary.

actually had well above freezing temps for a long time so fired up the S4 and moved it out the garage so I could do a little work on the GTS.......got it up on jack stands, wheels off rad drained getting ready for m big box of goodies from Santa roger

Added a smoking hot steering wheel to the parts room.

Preparing for wintertime project number two:
Pull Dash-recover in Cork
Pull Pod- recover in Cork using Rob's cover that has been sitting in my parts room for months.
Replace carpet- New carpet set from Rob (single most expensive line item to date)
Recover-arm rest from an S4 in Cork
Design rear seat delete and install new Amp and Speaker set.

I am good to go on the items above, but will also need to purchase some leatherique dye to finish rear Qtrs and door panels. Great structurally, just sun faded.
