Drove it to work today, since with school out the traffic tends to be much lighter. It was...but for some reason the damn parking lot at work is full and I had to leave it with the valet
I hate leaving it with the valet....

I never valet - always see in my mind that scene from Ferris Beuller's Day Off. Sorry, I know that didn't help

Finally put her back together after front end re-paint.....bit of a saga, but got there in the end. Wont be painting the rest for a while - need to clear the smell of paint out of my nose.

Not all today, but over the past few days continued preps for PCA Parade in VT:
Replaced fog light lenses with Roger's repros (no hard at all to do - just break the old ones)
Installed X-pel protectors on said lenses and headlights
Finally installed RDK stickers on my D90s, cleaned wheel wheels swapped Cup Is for D90s
Replaced RMB with stock muffler (temporary, of course)
Installed an original luggage cover (Thx to MJRocket) - I got hit for that last year
Cleaned out spare tire/battery area, temp removal of Battery Tender pigtail
Vacuumed out rear hatch area
Replaced burned out passenger footwell light bulb
Still to do:
More interior cleaning, including glass
Exterior glass cleaning
Pick up borrowed enclosed trailer for the trip
Pack
I'm sure I'll find more to do...

Been spending more time on Jim Chambers' car than my own. A few years ago I decided as proof-of-concept I'd replace the rear factory speakers with some upgraded ones, but keeping the original frame and grill. That turned out to be a bigger adventure than I anticipated. The original frame is removed from the support with the Dremel saw, the glued-in ring that is the outer ring of the foam surround is separated from the support. Then the support gets cleaned up with a small sanding drum to make room for the new speaker.
I found that the 6.5" Infiniti Kappa's happen to be the right dimension with a small amount of surgery. That surgery involves using tin snips to cut away the rolled edge of the new frame, essentially giving a flat mounting face. The modified speaker is then glued to the factory support from the back, leaving enough room in front to use the factory grills.
---
Fast-forward several years to this week, when I did the same surgery to the second rear pillar-mounted speaker.
Two down, eight to go. At this pace, I should have them all replaced by the turn of the century.

Today I hooked a chain to the tow hook and pulled it out of the garage so the insurance adjuster could officially total it..... When I got home from work I put the battery from my Jaguar in and hooked some wire jumpers to the battery leads, she fired up right away. My advice to all: If you worry about the well being of your children let them drive a 30 year old 928!!!!!! PANZER!!!!!

Aside from that. I sent mine down to Sprint Auto in San Jose to have the front end checked out and aligned. It threw itself out of wack over 50 miles and is being flatbedded down there.
I also added an 89 to my collection. Now I just need to start a thread on that car when I get back to SoCal at the end of August to actually see it.

I hate that too. It's a wedge to get it back in. Also the chipboard cover is brittle as hell.

Ken,
This is my 78's chipboard spare-cover. Now, I just need the darn thing that goes below...lol.
What did you do to your 928 today...
Waiting on this little do-dad for my 84, door exit light, and I will reassemble passenger side door panel. Reglued carpet and vinyl and installed homemade steel door handle reenforcements and adjusted window guides...so I'm ready when it gets here.
Brian.
