Not exactly what I did to the 928, but more about what the 928 Shark did to the wifey, We took a little drive, 170 miles. Just to keep it short, New front wheel bearings made a triple digit run on a two lane twisty more comfortable, wifey didn't bitch me out.

Drove to the C&C at the Wegmans in Leesburg, VA. Had a nice time talking to the owner of a new Corvette Z06 (w/Z07 competition package..and LOT of carbon fibre) who surprisingly wanted to spend most of our chat talking about my car (very cool when guys who can afford anything appreciate what mere mortals are keeping alive). Afterward took a few pictures before putting it up on stands to check for leaks. The clean oil leak I found a few weeks ago turned out to be from the tensioner (not the fresh silicone OPG I installed over winter). Tightened up the bolts slightly, filled tensioner with thick Lucas Hub Oil...still dry today. I can lay for several minutes under the car admiring how dry and clean it is (wasn't always the case). Checked the flex plate for flatness (yup) and paint on the splines (no movement). Today was like going to the dentist and he says "Looks good...no cavities".

I drove it back up to Norther California. It's hard to stay slow in the middle of nowhere in the central valley 400 miles, and didn't miss a beat.

Received a shipping notice from North Hollywood Speedometer & Clock... sent my instrument cluster there in the hopes they could refurbish/repair my 1984 printed circuit film as it is no longer available- 928 641 973 01.

Not wanting to wait until I received the package to find out the results of their efforts, I called and am glad I did. Now I'm scouring the Internet to find a replacement part... somewhere... (WTB post made immediately after phone call...)

Finally got rid of the vibration that started as soon as I replaced the motor mounts (new Volvo mounts...love them). Just had to rotate an exhaust clamp that appeared to be welded in the wrong position.

Now going to Summit Point for the Country Roads Sports Car Club car show.

Decided to take a break from my (failed, so far) AC repair and put on my Header-X from Carl. *(&^! I loosened the clamp, which as luck would have it appears to be there only to hide the fact that the cats are welded to the exhaust

I'll have to take it somewhere that can deal with that I guess...

Drove her hard from Greensboro to Monroe to Porsches in the Country at Jeff's place (Atari ST).

Got a recharge of R12 from AirTekHVAC aka Ron and met Barry aka White Lightnin'

Then tied my heater control valve closed for the short term (thanks everyone) and put a temporary circlip on my headlight mechanism. Will get one from Roger and the HC Valve this week!

What a great event. My son Gavin (9) loved it--said it was his favorite event.

He horse-traded a duffel bag he won for a black Porsche flag. Happiest boy in NC today.

Drove home at reasonable speeds (for the Autobahn) and about 2/3 the way through--the AC came alive and completely cooled down the car.

What a fantastic 928 day!
