Removed the SmarTire TPMS from my car, since they're now obsolete and I didn't have the aging (probably with little battery life) sensors reinstalled at my last tire change a few weeks ago. Orange TPMS didn't work for my wheels either (valve stem holes are unusually small on my Kinesis Supercup wheels), so I'm now running TPMSless.

So... I've got an ashtray again (previous location of SmarTire display). I'm not sure what they're good for.

I never liked the rub strips on the 928, one reason why I love mine so much. Never had them to begin with

Removed the secondary air pump and associated equipment. Replaced all vacuum hoses. Checked ignition timing, and reset the idle. Nice and low at factory spec'd 750 RPM. Drives wonderfully.

Ed - I also just removed my smartire sensors also - 2 were by then rattling aound inside - didn't have good luck with these - overall I had 3 fail in about 3 years. maybe it was the gorrillas over-tighening the bands...

I did install the Orange sensors - no issues with fit on the C2 Cup 1's.
Compared to the cost of the 4 Michelin PS2s the Orange TPMS seems to be almost for free...

I like the system so far. I probably will install in the ash tray location - though my Smartire was in the front of the cassette box - my ash tray is getting freed up now from other duties. I do note that the max number for low pressure warning is 35psi (seems a bit low for a limit) but OK for me.
The color display and all 4 concurrent monitoring is nice - though i don't want to look at it all the time...

Replaced two failed amber B8.4d LEDs (the outermost ones that backlight the information system display) in my instrument cluster. Those are the only LED bulbs I've had trouble with, and it has been repeated trouble. Bad batch? Or is it something heat-related? I'm not sure.

Anyway, the instrument cluster is back to its former beauty again.

I already miss the TPMS.

I might consider having the Orange sensors mounted using one of the other—aside from direct valve-stem mount—mounting techniques (various adapters, straps, etc.), but those seem rather klugy and possibly failure-prone in the manner similar to what you experienced with your strap-mounted sensors.

Now that you've indicated that it generally works, at least I have the option of selling my Orange TPMS kit (opened and inspected, but never installed) to another 928er, knowing that it has proved to be installable and usable on at least one 928.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the Orange system.

Cleaned up the fuse panel, replaced all the fuses (except for that 1 AMP one which I over looked, got to get that one =.=), cleaned up the relays, Stabilant 22A on connector, cleaned up the grounds in that well also then replaced the large right door speaker and grill for the small one (Thanks MG928 )

I must have a short somewhere because the entire rear set of speakers don't work, only the doors.

Anyone know where to look?

Finally, after almost 10 years and the right corner trim from 928 Int'l (thanks!), put the trim back on my rear quarter windows.

83 US 5-speed

In the past week, replaced clutch master cylinder via wheel well (the best way in my opinion -- thanks to help from Jim D.), slave cylinder, infamous blue line, and fluid.

Changed heater control valve. Easiest job yet.

Checked 20-year old timing belt (looks like new, but only has 30K so condition as expected -- plan to replace at 90K when belt has 60K).

Was going to replace fuel lines with kit from Roger, but the master cylinder took a week. Next project.

Much more to do, but a little progress here and there makes a difference.

Oil Change. Mobil1 8Qts 0-40w, 1/2 Qt 15-30w. Pressure looks great and holds closer to 5 when warmed up at rev. Idle at Temp never below 2.

Washed and waxed her. Conditioned the interior with some kind of magic leather rejuvenator. Gotta look nice when visiting daughter at college tomorrow. I'll be putting out the vibe. If these kids only knew how cool I am because of this legendary car...

Decided to tend to the rusted headlight assembly carriers. I had ordered 2 brand new ones from Ebay seller in my local area, Porsche part # 92863111301, cost me $99.95 each, free shipping.

This is what the originals looked like.

Comparison of old and new.

New carrier installed.

Headlamp in place, almost finished.

Final result.
