Now to clean all the adhesive goop on the floors before installing my new Classic 9 Leather Shop carpet kit. Looks like the original carpet may have been black. Not sure why it was changed if it was but there is no reason to find fuzzy black carpet bits under the pearl unless it was replaced. The crazy thing is that it was such a bad install what is the point?

This '89 is really messed up. Glad that it didn't go to a wrecker.

I'll get it fixed in time.

Please post a bunch of before during and after pics of the carpet install!

Finished installing the Dynamat for the front half of the car and part way through the carpet install. Finally worked out the odd piece of capet was for the foot rest!
Took off the rear hatch lid to fix some minor rust under the rubber seal. Put on a new seal and fitted a third highline brake light from an S4 for some additional safety.

Stop Lamp came on. Found I had no brake lights working. Fuse 4 checked ok. Since all the brake lights were out at the same time it had to be a common piece of equipment causing it, namely the brake switch. Checked it and sure enough one of the two connectors had come loose. $0 fix. Nice.

Seeing a few new replies in Randy's Engine Fire thread was enough to remind me of the risk I was running, so this morning before work, I finally removed the fuel pressure gauge from the end of my 928's fuel rail.

Well not exactly today. But last week I got in it after work and drove 13 hrs to golf in North Carolina for the weekend. While there I Showed it off to an old Porsche enthuist (PGA member for over 50 yrs). He's 92 and drives a boxster S.
The drive home in the daylight was much better. Shaved 2 hrs off the driving time. Going through the mountains was fun. Car ran like a dream and is so easy to go long distances in. Well except for the fuel mileage. First long highway drive since installing the x-pipe. Wasn't loud at all and no droming noise.

I finished replacing the timing belt (@159549 miles). Engine started right up. The only problem I have is the dreaded left-over bolt. It should go in the belt cover but all the holes are filled.

Sounds like you installed the "14th bolt" in the WP when you should have left it out for the bolt that goes through the cover. It's the one below the pin on the RHS of the WP, IIRC.

Marveled (again) at the added responsiveness since having my cams re-timed with PorKen's magic 32VR tool (thanks Sean). This is one fast car!

Took off my cowl cover and sprayed a heavy layer of rubber 'Flex Seal' on the underside (
Amazon Amazon
). Poor man's way of strengthening the thing so it may be more resistant to cracking in the future ...

Made a pair of stone guards out of some black polyproperlene I had lying around for my rear wheels, may prevent a bit of gravel rash?
