Went out to go for a ride. Got in and discovered the dash, pod, pillers and console where gone. Remembered they are in Michigan. Shut the door and went back in the house.

Tried out some new DIY wheel alignment toys today. Been collecting pieces for a few months to add caster capability. Now have that, and found out how far out my adjustment was. Pieces include digital angle gauges for the aligment frames. Both camber and caster cam now be adjusted while you watch the digital gauges. I need to update the DIY instruction to include the added procedures.

I think you will need some very thin spring steel JB Welded on each side - at least this is what worked for me finally after several tries via other methods

The original materials choice here just wasn't very good - over time these get more and more brittle - In the end I cut mine back to have a bigger spring steel section - worked like a charm - have fixed about 8 of these that way now...

BTW when I say spring steel - A spring from a ball point pen will work as will a slightly bigger spring section - nothing much bigger though...

Thanks for the tip! I'll monitor the repair and see how it goes. If it doesn't hold up, I'll give your method a try.

So today I got energetic and started to figure out how my custom Paul/Hans window switches would install.

It took a few hours to read up on all the updates.

Took some per assembly photos of the switch test fit and the harness.

^^Yikes. They look great...I can let myself off the hook though 'cause I"m not altering the blue car to that extent for a very long time yet.

I replaced temp sensor sending unit, 928SP crossbar with new plated hardware, replaced vacuum 'y' on booster line since it was about a 1/2" disarticulated. Gave her a gentle nuzzle to go out for a stroll...and she flat out declined due to weak battery.

Thanks SMTCapeCod, its just a test fit in the photo so it will fit better.

BTW, remove your Defog relay and I bet your drain will quit.

I also installed one of those deep cycle batteries

Today I am working on the console.

I am contact cementing the vinyl where it has lifted and hopefully
will be putting some of the wiring for the new switches in.

Plus the stereo/GPS and rear cam wiring needs to be put in place and
I may even install the extra wire for NOS in case I decide to go that route in the future.

Not sure if the neon light wires need to go there

Just joking.

Here are some pics of the glueing process.

Put it in the driveway and gave it a bath. First day off it was warm enough. Also replaced all the missing beauty rings around the console and e-brake cover screws.

Thanks, I'll give the relay a shot. Come to think of it, I think the defog is inop so it bears looking into anyway. I think the real reason is that the thing has been on a trickle charger/life support for the better part of the last decade...couple weeks parked and I'm not surprised that it went dead. I was 'going to' pull the ground cable...till I peaked under the carpet and spare tire cover and saw stacks of amps and wires and stuff...Guess I have to face it now..or in the spring.
