Three Wheelin'
Got the rear windows tinted @ 5%... Driver & Passenger windows @ 50% (legal)... and a 18% strip over the top of the windshield. Gotta protect the leather by reducing the sunlight & HEAT

Here's a few bits I plated last night.. spacers from the rear of the airpump (zinc with yellow chromate passivation)

And what kind of finish do you apply to the aluminium hubs? The bare aluminium will get white oxydation very quickly in the wet.

the rear hubs (alum) were chem dipped to clean them. i plan on adding some polish wax to them to keep out the nastys. springs i just sent out to get plated along with everything else. the black is the hub its self, i had it pickled and then used self etching primer and a few coats of rustolium black.

Yes. I got a zinc-plating kit from a local supplier. After some experimenting on spare bits/bolts, I've got the yellow chromate finish where I want it.
I paid a local shop to plate a bunch of hardware from the engine bay (took intake and TBWP and accessories all off and apart), but missed a couple of items.
Plus there were some items I didn't put in the pro batch due to seeing Rob Edwards' experience, like the Fuel Pressure Regulator. So I bought a kit and have been doing a few bits myself, including the fuel pressure reg pictured below. Rob had problems with the plating process destroying his - probably due to acid pickle I'd guess. I used threaded o-ringed caps to seal the screw connections and tight silicone caps to seal the vacuum and barbed connections on this one; I checked the paper I stuck inside afterwards and there were no signs of moisture during the plating process
Having compared the results between my own plating and the pro stuff, mine looks better (more consistent finish), so next time I have a bunch of bolts etc. to do, I'll build a plating barrel and just do it all myself (the tub shown is just a small one - I have a lot more electrolye, but this is only just over a gallon I'm using to do the few small bits I need to reassemble my '87)
The process is: degrease, bead blast, degrease, rinse, acid pickle, rinse, zinc plate, rinse, chromate passivate.

New Plates
Installed new plates. The color matches with the black and white car too. Installed extended battery maintainer wires down to below the front corner so i can close the hood to set the alarm, and run the maintainer all winter.

Took advantage of nice cold air and empty 4 lane (as in not another soul) to test out my tires speed ratings. They work. No carbon on top of pistons after today.

Changed out the rear side marker bulbs. Thanks to my bride (who has hands the size of squirrel paws), the PS rear wing nut went on in a flash. I could get it off with long pattern needle nose pliers...getting it on was going to be a different challenge with the hams I've got at the end of my wrists. It's amazing to me...had she not been around, I would have had to rent a neighborhood kid. Gotta love Ken's lift bars too.
