Installed the "new" used cooling fan housing from 928 Intl. The old one has broken pieces missing from the driver side fan shroud.

Reinstalled inner sunroof panel after adjustment, reinstalled freshly refilled fan clutch (6 oz). Located and remedied a fuel leak.

Removed rear suspension, transmission, and TT. The locator pins were stuck in the bell housing really well. It was a mother to get loose. I'm happy to make progress though.

Default Tranny switch

GTS A/T, installed new tranny switch (the thingy that signals pod to light PNRD lights). I wonder if anyone else has had this problem: the white plastic locking ring that secures the male and female parts together would not lock. Spent an hour trying to gently lever it together so the ring would rotate, finally broke the white ring. The backing plate which bolts to the tranny is actually raised 1/4 inch off the tranny so a zip tie fits behind and around it the two parts and now holds them together. So it is in place and the lights work. Undergoing "testing." I think I paid $190 for it so I really hope this works; on the chance it doesn't, does anybody know if there is a tool or trick for getting this to lock.

While getting some parts for my Intake Refresh (this weekend) I decided to stop in at the local muffler shop to have my entire exhaust system re-welded by a professional. It was leaking at every weld and looked like a high school welding class installed it. $250 for dropping the system, grinding out all the crappy leaking welds, re-welding & replacing. Took them four hours from start to finish - waaaay longer than the estimate, but they stuck to thier price. On the downside we also found that two of my three rubber muffler hangers are broken. Wouldnt you know they DONT stock Porsche style hangers. Looks like I'll be calling Roger... again.

Removed the TT, bearings and dampner. They were in need of replacement, came out very easy.

Bilal: File Photo: The white line is the approx position of the zip tie. The white locking ring pictured is of course missing on my switch now. The switch body that mounts to the transmission has a beveled sealing gasket. The new gasket may be too fat and was preventing the locking ring from scewing (turning) into position; I have not checked the old switch to see how depressed the gasket may have become over time. That is the only thing I can think of that would cause the problem. Unless there is some other design misalignment in going from a part manufactured for '93, to a March 2010, which is stamped on the new MB part. It's pretty high and dry up there, but it probably should have a seal. I put some electrical tape around the bottom 180° of the switch. I'm not sure I can reach the top, but will try to add that, now that I know it does work.

Pulled it out for the first time in 3 months due to 60 degreee temps. Got to drive around for an hour when I lost all brakes. Lucky for me I was close to home. I was able to limp home pulled in the driveway and all fluid puked on my driveway.

Guess I have a new project....
