So today I've been searching Tyres for my 1984 Porsche 944 in Sydney on http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-215+60r1...SearchBox=true, 215 60 R15, but there are lesser results, I'm also considering my budget, the prices here are quite considerable jaxtyres.com.au/tyres/brands/dunlop/ but I also like to find other options. What do you guys use and what are the price range? T

I was able to do mine with the hacksaw/chisel method of removal and a rubber mallet to pound in the new ones. A press would've been much easier, though.

Correct, you do have to remove one side first. At that point a press could be used to remove the other but it's not hard to knock it out either. Pounding the new ones back in (if required, depends on type) is a little annoying but doable. A press would be helpful for keeping it straight.

If I were to remove another control arm bushing, I'd try inserting a snap ring inside and between the two halves (there appears to be a narrow gap).
Might allow you to use a socket or press to push out the first side without cutting any reliefs.
Trying to cut and remove the outer shell without damaging the aluminum control arm is by far the worst part.

^ can you zoom in on some different areas on it? In the first pic it looks like some areas outside the fire rings were pressurized. But it may be the lighting.

You know, you may be onto something, I think I was getting pressure outside the fire rings, and it would have for sure been able to get into the water jackets. I was looking for a place around the oil channels where oil was getting out or water was getting in. But the oil channels look perfect. So I can totally see how I was getting exhaust in the coolant, and that would explain the overheating.
But I'm still a little confused about the mixing. Unless that was 100% the fault of the oil cooler... I'll find out when I pull it huh?

I've been toying around with my spare engine (early 83) in the basement, basically just taking various assemblies apart, then re-assemble to fully understand before working on my 84. Heads came off just to find out that TDC wasn't really TDC. I adjusted, re-assembled, then hand cranked the motor a few times with no collisions.

I install a new stereo in my 951 Blaupunkt Toronto 420 Bt and some new speakers in the front door, still have to change the 2 back ones.
I was wondering is the 86 951 is prep for 6 1/2 speakers in the back?
