Since I got my 951 a week ago I have been assessing on what shall be done and have ordered parts accordingly.
So tonight I did the following:
- fix the clock thanks to 914rubber little kit
- fix the central locking system as the doors were not locking, so I have replace both doors operating rod for door lock actuator
- fix the driver seat which had the seat **** for back release broken.
The next step is changing:
- changing the fuel line
- changing the steering wheel to go back to original
- changing the orange from turn signal which are cracked.
Then the car shall be good...

Fixed the damn instrument panel lights. I checked the grounds and the switch, and I think I looked at all the fuses in the fuse box at least three times. But this time I got serious and checked the wiring diagram. Fuse 12, 8 amp, sure enough a closer look and it was in fact fried.
The glove box has about 20 or more of them in both red and black. Is that a Porsche thing? Dozens of fuses in the glove box? Or was the DPO replacing them every couple of days? Time will tell I guess, didn't pop when I lit her up. I think I will take the small victory and call it a night

924 dash looks so nice ! dont really like the cheapo looking late ones...like somebody once said, could be from a 90s Ford fiesta. when working properly the old dash is great and has a unique character.`

As for the dash lights, one of my 924s had 11 burnt-out bulbs.

Rod bearings
Rod bearings replaced ~88,000 miles and likely never tracked.
I needed to do the oil pan gasket and took the advice to replace these.
#2 and #4 have some light scratches that I can feel with my finger tip.
Can anyone advise if these look like they needed to be replaced?

While they might have gone for many many thousands of miles more, they are showing signs of wear, especially on 2 and 4, so good to replace before they start scuffing up your crank and making it a more expensive fix.

I replaced the timing belt.
Although I have no service records, I think it is safe to say it is well past its service date.
I even washed the cover off in the kitchen sink, and didn't get (much) flak when I was caught in the act by the wife.
Got the idle adjusted down to a fairly smooth 800 rpm, the previous owner had it cranked up to about 2000, I am curious as to how the adjustment will affect cold start, which was requiring a bit of cranking.
Overall a pretty good day.
