yesterday i installed (finally) the DME logger and watched it dance around and took my first recorded logs.
god that thing is cool.
drove the car around for the first time in at least 2 weeks, missed how fun it is.
with my new intake (huge cone in the fender corner with a 45 bend to the MAF, car sure sounds good and goes hard.
data logger shows IAT getting up to 105 degrees while stopped at a light, but once the car is moving again the IAT dropped to 85 or so (ambient last night) so at least over there the "hot-air intake" seems not to matter.
i ditched the airbox because it wasn't doing anything but being cosmetic in my previous setup, with a smaller cone inside it to mate to the MAF sensor.

I think one of those "MAF isolator" panel things would greatly help, because my radiator fan throws a LOT of air in all directions which must be pretty hot. Also there is no sheet metal underneath the cone filter on my car (non-stock front structure) so radiant heat off the asphalt is probably contributing somewhat as well.
But that's not something I'm going to worry about for a while.
For now I am going to use my logger to dial down the tune a little more, and then take it back to the dyno to check out this current intake setup. There is also a large bellmouth mounted between the filter and MAF elbow which perhaps will have some benefit?

I wonder about those, my IATs get hot too. Has anybody done any logging before/after to see if they really make a difference?

the weight of the MAF (not much) is suspended between the J boot at one end and the filter at the other.
the silicone elbow is very stiff and is mounted on aluminum connectors at both ends (a maf adapter plate on the MAF, and an aluminum bell mouth at the filter.
the filter is just resting on top of the AC receiver drier...it just clears the hood-shut line and does not interfere with headlight operation

Actually. Amazon, Gulf Decal was 12$ USD I think. and the orange is also off amazon, it is 12 inch vinyl in porker orange, and the blue 3M Vinyl. Total spent. Was around 40 dollars. And about an hour of time, wraps all the way under the back bumper. The wheels are Porsche racing orange, we had some laying around form other projects. Came out pretty good I think for the $ spent.

Dear Spencer: you might want to consider putting a guard or piece of plastic up in front of the cone filter as a splash guard. If the filter gets soggy during a rainstorm the splash that comes through the radiator might block the airflow. Oh yeah..I forgot.. it doesn't rain in CA..LOL!

Got my newly built /modified S2 oil cooler and hoses home today with all new AN fittings...Now to put them on the car..someday..I'll have to build a special mount for the cooler. Originally this cooler came with a plastic shroud around it..Would it be wise to retain this shroud, or just let the cooler hang in the breeze behind the main valence opening? Comments. pls..& thanks.

The other day I figured out why my brakes were locked up. I thought it was a caliper, but it was actually the parking brake. One of the hold down springs was bent and the other had snapped in half.
After that was fixed I put on my freshly powder coated calipers
Then I bled the brakes/clutch
After that I finished installing my A/C compressor
Next up was a new receiver/drier and a new oring for the pressure switch
Finally I installed my new windshield washer tank/motor. I haven't had working windshield cleaning system in almost 4 years
After all this work my car graced me with a new problem: fuse #4 (window winders) blows as soon as I turn the key This should be fun to solve...
Edit- I forgot to mention that my odometer also quit working. It was working just fine before I pulled the dash
