hard to see in the pictures, but if the car had gone another foot or 2 to the left, it would be nose-first in a 15-foot hole.

this was a very tight right hand turn with a dip in the middle...there were parts from several other cars/motorcycles scattered around where i ended up. there was a corvette fiberglass fender underneath my car at this point, and a motorcycle mirror...this corner claims vehicles...but not mine!

last picture shows the full extent of the damage done, should clean up ok. no mechanical damage whatsoever, not even broken fog lights.

woops.
Glad you are ok.

Went for a proper mountain drive over lunch late last week- 20 minutes from my desk, and totally worth the trip!

Love that chunk of road... There are many others like it in the area; I just haven't found them all yet! Time for some more exploring...

That was Decker canyon, between ocean and Agoura Hills I think.

Dealer is the one in Riverside.

Is it a crime that I haven't yet taken my 944 up Flag? Guess I need to mark some midweek time for it.

I drove my 944 to work today ,after living in the Volvo wagon for over a week in Yellowstone and Teton National Parks. No bears got me, but I did have my mountain bike come off at speed and crush into the rear 1/4 panel (for the second time, damn old roof racks). After piloting a boat for 2000 miles, the 944 felt light and playful.

Yes and no? It seems pretty dependent on how much traffic there is. The road itself is amazing, but it's a relatively popular spot for mountain bikes and the like, plus the usual slower traffic. As always, theres' the balance between having fun and not being an ******* or being dangerous, and it's a tough one with limited sight lines on Flagstaff.

Oh, and I did spot a handful of deer wandering across the road, nearly causing a bike wreck. So even if you can see all the people, there's still the wildlife question...

My kingdom for the car to be fully sorted (or close enough) and some track time, because it's becoming clear that thats' the only really 'safe' way to push it the way we all want to...

Inspected and checked tension on the timing belt, checked clutch wear, cleaned the belly pan and lower surfaces, and glued the wind deflector together so I can actually take the roof off finally!

Now, to fix the odometer for the 3rd time (anyone else had the issue with the early odometer where the gear is in the right place, but the whole shaft it's on wanders until the gear doesn't mesh anymore?), and to replace the rear brakes and passenger side motor mount!

Thanks for the odometer tip, Orbix..I'll be sure to look it over when I get around to taking my dash out so I can put in new bulbs or LEDs .

Default Connected radio -driving to work tomorrow first time.

Well I've had this thing long enough and since my daily is down tomorrow I have to make the 30 mile trip each way in Mr. P. Haven't worried about the radio until now because mostly I've been listening to the engine etc. I bought this almost a year ago with a broken timing belt for $1300 (with new tires!) and have fixed a lot of things as you could all guess. It seems to run perfectly I've just been too chicken to take it too far. Started on the paint obviously. Wish me luck.

I wouldn't call it a tip, per se... If that's the issue you're having, let me know if you find a good solution. My current frustration there is that if I hadn't reaffixed the odometer gear to the shaft in what ought to be the right place, I could just slide it off and drop in some kind of spacer. Now I have to figure out if I can get it loose from the shaft without breaking it and needing to buy another one of the stupid gears.
