What did you do to your 924/944 today
#4968
I removed the fuse box (octopus?) from my '86 NA. Just another step towards body work and paint! Would haves done more but I'm also helping remove the transaxle in my friend's 944. Most crap is out of the engine bay, just a few more things to pull and I move into the interior.

I cleaned the car out of my winter "gear", and gave the interior as basic clean and vacuum. I hesitated about swapping my summer wheels back on, but it is a good thing I held off, as I am watching the weather channel for updates today of an impending ice storm of doom.

Replaced both front brake rotors and pads yesterday, repacked bearings with fresh grease and broke in pads.
And as soon as I was going to leave to go to church that afternoon.... hose going from the water outlet to hard pipe had a pinhole in it... replaced with 1-¼" hose.

It was a busy past week for me and the new 924S. Flew down to Raleigh last thursday to pick it up and drive it north!
Installed front and rear sway bars from a 951, made a huge difference. Thanks Ian!

Made the 11.5 hour trip to upstate NY without so much as a hiccup! It was fantastic on the road and ate up the miles like it was nothing. couldn't be happier with the trip. 700 miles later:

Yesterday, after picking up car from glass shop that was resealing the rear hatch, my belts began to chirp/squeal. After going 2mi down a main road my battery light came on and lost PS. I made it 15mi to my parent's house and noticed a bolt had broken off the ac compressor. I got new belts and a new bolt and left her sitting on ramps.
Today, I changed out the ac compressor (because the rear attaching ear had snapped off), replaced the exhaust manifold heat shield, changed the oil, and cleaned up all the antifreeze from the engine.
Car is still running to charge the battery. The reason the front bolt had broke was because, get this, it was already broken. When I did my belts I only loosened the front bolt, so i never saw that it was only penetrating about 4mm into the front ear.
Going to get it evacuated and a new dryer installed when I find the time. Tomorrow is my last day of vacation :/ .

Headers mounted
Clutch slave put on
Fuel lines assembled
Throttle cable/assembly modified and installed
Wiring ran through the firewall
99% of engine wired up...still need to put on elbow/maf/filter and connect wires.
Gauge cluster taken apart to get tach out, have to modify it for v8 signal
Still have to: splice harness into factory wiring/wrap harness
Modify tach
mount radiator/fan and hook those up
Install 1 new brake line
New brake fluid/bleed brakes and clutch
Put trans back in
Still waiting on y pipe, then fab rear exhaust section
Top off with fluids
CRANK IT UP
So much stuff to do involving a swap...crazy

Cleaned up the passenger side of my engine bay and installed my exhaust manifolds. I should have put them on with the head I meant to put the water pump on too, but those stupid headers took up all of my time.

Pretty much every weekday I get something new done on my car '86 NA. I don't work on the car on the weekends (family time!) so here is what I did on Friday:
I removed the pillar trim, center console, and dashboard. Plenty more on this car to strip, though!

Yesterday I put in a new coolant expansion tank, replaced front speakers and put in front sway bar braces. Those braces made a huge difference. Such a nice difference in the corners it kind of irritated me that it took me so long to do and that they were not standard off the line. But, hey, great addition.
