Took it to the body shop, hopefully they will finish painting it in the next two weeks.

[QUOTE=J1NX3D;9571000]beautiful car intrepidagent! do you have high res photos of your badge decal?[QUOTE]

The decal I was referring to is the one on the rear spoiler. The badge on the front is one of the Cerakote / paint combination pieces I've been making.

Yesterday- went to do my "bolt-on late cooling fan upgrade" and so much for bolt-on

Now to see if the late fans will fit in the early shroud... Or if I can use a late motor with an early fan blade...

after replacing my turbo over the last month, I found that the sound I was tracking down was a $20 idler pulley. That takes about 30 min to replace......d*** car

Took the control arms off again - got it on the alignment rack and the clunk comes from the rear bushings; also noticed a crack in the header pipe and my new front monoballs are rotating in the a-arms (sigh) so I took off the monoballs and re-set them with Loctite 604, replaced the epoxy on the ball-joint repair which I guess I didn't mix enough (rats) and ordered new 968 bushings to replace my rotten ones. Good news/bad news is I can take the both control arms off the car in about 30 minutes (not including careful jacking) and I found out I'm not such a sh*t-hot mechanic despite all my groovy impact tools and torque-wrenches. Guess I need to be more patient and deliberate in my work. Now I'm looking for a new/old header pipe because I don't trust weld repairs on those cheesy pipes.

ps - the monoballs. They might work eventually but I doubt it. One side moves exactly like you would expect but the other is very stiff and requires a lot more pressure to move. Neither of them fit the a-arm as precisely as I was lead to believe (you're supposed to require heat/freezing to install them) so I think the build-quality is deficient. I have not tried to get a refund from the manufacturer (yet) as I am curious to see what they will do on the car, but I suggest that anyone following this thread use a large dollop of salt in their decision-process to use "weather-sealed" monoballs.

Dropped my car off at the bodyshop on Monday to fix the damage caused by a parking lot hit and run... so in the meantime I bought a copy of Original 924/944/968 and a 1987 Porsche Factory Salesman fact book off of internet to keep me happy. Should have the car back by Saturday, in time for our local Porsche Concours (my 951 isn't competing, but still needs to look her best).

Turns out I had 951 fans...

I took the fans out and they bolted right into the early shroud. Only problem is there's a slight bit of rubbing. I'm 90% sure it's the fan blade rubbing a tiny bit on the shroud, but I need to go check and make sure it's not rubbing on a radiator hose or anything.

Also look in to getting "porsche 944, ultimate portfolio" by brooklands books. It's hundreds of pages of copies of period articles out of a plethora of magazines and sources on the 944, lots of interesting facts and pictures, and comparison road test figures with many cars from the era...

Picked up my '88 from the guy I bought it from and dropped it off at the body shop at work. It is amazing how much they see wrong in a 30 second inspection.

Wow! Textbook material!!!

Default Oh, Mr. Postman...

I'm waiting for the imminent arrival of an M22 X 1.5 brass nut to replace the one that holds the thermo fan switch in place.
