What did you do to your 924/944 today

Bought new caster blocks (968 version) and had the wheels aligned, to perfection! What a difference, tracks like she's on rails. Even managed to seal up a crack in the exhaust manifold (if anyone has a nice used set, or a nice used set of headers and a cat delete pipe I'm yer man!).

Tightend up the locating pins on my targa roof. The pins were a bit loose, and they would rattle when going over rough pavement. Still need to get out for a spin to see if it helped much. Right now I'm gathering/packing my gear to head out to 944 fest.

Had a good weekend on targa of rotorua crewing for my friend and his wife and their two cars- a '77 porsche 924 with a 12A and an '88 205GTI with a later 1.9 GTI engine.
Both cars went well, with only the pug needing surgery with a cracked power steering hardline. both cars had intermittent problems with their intercoms which is basically just cheap connector plugs so they'll get sorted before the next one.
Saturday was pretty wet, Sunday was better.

I've been out driving it in the wet this week.
Unfortunately, the alternator/AC belt has now developed a truely lovely squeal that goes right through my brain.
(Yes, I know how to fix this, I just really don't feel like putting the car up on jackstands at the moment.)

And why is your idle so low? Should be 900-1000...Can't believe you could live with the shaking of 800 or less...you don't have a V8 yet

And 900-1000 seems uncomfortably high to me. 600 was only a bit too low for me, 750's perfect.
Is it normal if you're on the gas and let off completely the rpm's dip down to just under 600 for an instant then go back to idle?
