sounds like he tried to install a cv joint for a 1987 944 on his 1987 944.... and as it turns out the part required is indeed, a 1987 944 cv joint.... unfortunately, the part he attempted to use in it's stead wouldn't fit.... because it wasn't from 1987 (or 1988).

You are correct sir, I think. I didn't read the lindsey site carefully. I bought the CV joint that fits 944 THRU 87 and I needed the one FROM 87. Oh well, more parts for my collection

installed new cam gear >,< turns out the camshaft keyseat was worn down also >.< so i used loctight for now until i can find a new camshaft unit >.< I think i might start looking for a 968 haha >.<

ps. I HATE the distributor on the late 944 >.< the one were you have to twist the bolt to lock it in >.< the top is easy but the bottom one you need a super small screw driver >.<

took mom in the 951 to go get her 911SC from its service visit. for a glorified ferry service it was fun to go along...

Put my '86 on four stands so I can start taking front suspention and brake parts off to fix the sway bar bushing and also to find out where the brakes are at. Then replace parts as needed (as far as I can afford - wedding later this year is a concern -- lol).

Started cleaning, and masking the car for painting next weekend. This project took longer then I thought, heck I just wanted to get the PO's stickers off, but with the help of a good friend, and 356 restorer we're ready to spray. Can't wait to post up some final pics, but I really can't wait to grid my new to me 944!

Installed 17" Cup IIs with new Kumho SPT Tires.

Shampoo'ed and clean the interior.

Mounted a sabelt seat with no slider, adaptor, or drilling through the floor. Hopefully I can get the second one on the way soon.

i got woken up by my skype ringing yesterday morning. I had told my g/f to ring me at 7am my time.

I accept the call and she tells me she has bad news and then she starts crying. She was at albany mall today and reversing to her left out of a park. there was a car to her left that had stopped short and was letting her out. she was almost at the end of the maneuver to start to drive forward and a lady in a white station wagon backed into her from a park opposite. Just plain didnt look. so my g/f got out of the car freaking out and this 40-something yr old woman met her looking very casual, didn't apologise, was just completely aloof.
The lady took all the damage on her bumper so her car was effectively fine. she looked at the damage on my car and said words to the effect of "oh that doesn't look that bad..."and they looked for damage on her own car and there was a broken tail light and she says "Dont worry about that, thats from last weekend..." W.T.F??





Got all the insurance details, will get 3 quotes, etc but my g/f leaves for Dubai today to make her way here to see me here in Egypt and is gone for a month. My insurance said they will make an allowance for the claim being late due to our travel plans though so I can still claim, get the damage repaired and make up the difference to get my front spoiler on and a full respray but its really put a dent in things. Excuse the pun.

Fitted the new billet aluminium end caps for the rear cargo cover, I got from Joe Jackson. Polished my carbon fibre sub box and then fitted velcro to the bottom, to prevent any movement. I also went over the black exterior trim with some mother's Naturally Black, like the rear rubber wing, bumper, and around mirrors.

I rebuilt a used K27/6 and upgraded it a bit. I removed the #6 turbine and installed a #8 turbine in a machined #6 housing. Tuesday I ship it off to Arkansas for balancing.

Crappy luck J1, hope they get it fixed up for you, that's a nice colour.

Replaced the fuel pressure regulator, damper and fuel lines this weekend, and reconnected the vacuum so it's not running rich anymore and I'm less worried about an engine fire. Might take the fire extinguisher out, but I'll give it a couple more weeks just in case...

Also put new clear stone guards ahead of the rear wheel, and painted the rocker panel with a rubberized black paint below the stone guard, the back section. Tried to follow the curve of the stone guard down, think it came out looking pretty okay, sort of reminds me of the old 911's with the the black stone guards, but doesn't stand out as much. Will try to post pics tomorrow. A buddy suggested painting black instead of trying to match the red since it can be hard to match the colour and black can hide the imperfections in the paint a little better perhaps. Also easier to find a can of black than it is L3MA.

Also took the same buddy for a quick cruise. He owns a '95 Camaro Z28 LT1 but said he was impressed at how well the 944 handled and how stiff the suspension was. He couldn't believe how well the car was holding up to its years, inside and out. A very different ride for him, he's never been in a p-car and he said it felt fast but different from the torque he's used to.

Overall a nice day to cruise with the top out, and the car is driving great these days.
