Changed the oil.
Let my son drive it around the neighborhood. It was his first time using a standard transmission. He did quite well. Only stalled once on a slight hill.

Fixed my sloppy shifter using the dieter method. Now it's nice and tight!

Got my 944 running right for the first time after doing a LOAD of work.

Headgasket
all belts
painted the engine
AOS seals
injectors sent out for cleaning (total waste of money, never doing it again)
fixed battery tray leaks
welded new seat mount points into the floorboard
pulled old stained tan carpet and put in super nice black carpet
put in nice script seats
installed oil temp sender in drain plug
installed oil temp gauge and voltmeter in center speaker grill
washed engine bay
installed late tubular headers
replaced all 5 gauges (old ones had flat lenses, and while cool, the glare bugs my mom and it's her car)
new PS reservoir
new PS hoses to reservoir (yes both of them!)
replaced passenger door handle
finally got a rear cargo cover

Today it ran smoothly for the first time since december! The sound of a smoothly idling 944 is delightful.

Installed new rear speakers. My '83 doesn't have the 6 inch speakers inside the trim that I see most of you guys talking about, it has 4 inch speakers in a square mount external to the trim which made it a fairly simple job. I'm a tad confused though - was this a factory option or something? Or normal on 83 cars. As far as I can tell it isn't aftermarket, the speakers I took out were genuine Porsche parts.

Changed out a timing belt.
Changed out a balancing shaft belt.
Put on a clear timing belt cover.
Put on an ebay short shifter lever and short shift link.
Took out all the shifter insulation (dont care about noise)
cut down ebay shifter lever to accept walmart black leather shifter ****.
Now enjoying glass smooth 3" shifts.

I started yesterday, but I finished at about 2AM. Installed LR Silicone Venturi Delete and Vacuum line kit, as well as the Silicone AOS line kit. Also cleaned my ISV and epoxied a leak in it. Car runs soooooo much better now.

A little motivation for those of you who've been putting this job off... below is a pic of my old brake booster line. And my car only has about 130K Mi on it and has been very well taken care of...

and the finished product:

sorry about the blurry photo, but I'm super tired and LOTS of coffee is all that's keeping me conscious right now (I'm a little shaky)

Dropped it at a shop to have the oil pan gasket replaced. I had the gasket for a year. Just don't have the time to do the job. Next: Find why the car shakes at 50 and 80 mph, and have the windows tinted.

Called dC Auto to ask about the status of my order (968 VarioCam Check Valve)...
apparently, only one guy there knew what that part was... took 'em three days, three emails and a phone call from me to tell them what it was so they could complete the order.
I sure hope I get the right part, my engine bay is growin' cobwebs it's been waiting so long.
