It's a long process and certainly requires some luck. You got 1/200 to play ball.
It is not just about saving money. The friend I was talking about earlier had a strict budget he was willing to spend on the car, and all dealers around him (Texas) were even more ridiculous than California with their ADMs (minimum 25k and a watch or something like that) but he just wasn't aware of the possibility of going out of state, not sure why. He was on 10 "MSRP waiting lists" (huge scam) for over a year, and nothing happened, and he eventually decided to go for a Cayman GTS for "only" 15k over, not because he wanted to give up the GT4 but because he felt that for that ADM it is just too expensive. He reached out to me through some bay area facebook group he was still a member of (he used to live in the bay), and we started talking, shared information and methods, etc. A few days later, he told me he found a GT4 allocation for 10k over from Idaho or something like that, and that he is super happy I convinced him not to compromise on the GTS. I was so happy for him. A few days ago he sent me this

Similar stories have happened several times since then.

Of course, nothing is guaranteed, it is a rule of large numbers - the more dealerships you contact, the better chances you have of succeeding.

Anyways, moving on, now for real

Just FYI, was speaking with my SA and he mentioned they just got a not yet allocated Spyder and 911T, if anyone's looking. Seriously great guy to work with. George Bautista at Porsche Englewood in NJ.

We are talking about the overall market situation where hundreds if not a number in the low thousands that cannot get an allocation, not the probability of a lucky few that can secure an allocation at low or no ADM in short time just by calling. Ultimately it's the former that is driving the market price.

A lot of dealers don't even sell to people outside their area even at higher ADM.

Please post in the Dealer Allocation thread.

Rest, let’s get this back on track discussing inventory.

There is an ADM thread also.

Yeah, I get the legalities of it. My frustration and abhorrence is to do with the lack of ethics and failure to keep one's word. To any dealer worth a crap, those still mean something.

I thought about it a lot, and then I tried to imagine if the situation was the opposite, would a customer "keep their word" over if they knew they could get the same car in another dealership for 20k less cause the market has changed? I am not sure

Hmmm. For some reason I don't think I view those two scenarios the same (but opposite) but it'll take a bit more thought for me to determine why. Unequal bargaining power comes to mind initially.

Just purchased a 2023 PTS GT4 MT with buckets @ MSRP in OC Socal. Car having an interesting color helped with the pricing for sure but still
Market is definitely softening!

Come on now. We need more details than that! What dealer? When? What color PTS?

if the situation were the opposite, the dealer would keep the customer’s deposit.

Illegal in many, many states. No dealer in his right mind would do that, at least not in California, where it is so easy to sue.

I'm planning on selling my 6MT, PCCB, LWB, PDLS+(127k MSRP in 2020, 133k MSRP with todays prices), clear bra, 4 yr maint plan, etc rare spec Spyder with 8k miles soon so figured I'd start reaching out to a few dealers for trade in offers in case I get offered something good and not have to go through selling it private party, here's 3 that I've received:

Dealer #1: 85k trade in offer but would receive a GT4RS allocation at MSRP.
Dealer #2: 120k trade in offer, no allocations available or offered.
Dealer #3: Offered me the cars 2020 MSRP and said they would see if they could offer me a 4RS allocation for a 50k ADM.

I'm still figuring out what I want to do but will decide by the end of the month if I'll trade it in or list private party.

Any reason why you're getting rid of the Spyder?

I need something with a GT3 engine so hoping to either get into a 4RS/RS Spyder or honestly just pickup a PTS 991.1 RS to scratch the itch.
