Well, I gotta say, I am having mixed feelings about the car. I think the 4RS is a screaming bargain, but even as the owner of a GT4, I'm ehhhh with the looks. I think it stems from the side scoops not being the same color as the rest of the body. I think I'd rather have a GT3. While no guarantees or handshake agreements are in place, I think I have a good enough history with my guys to have a decent shot at either.
Edit
Think I’m gonna give the 4RS a shot…

It actually isnt. You are trading off suspension, downforce, power, tire size, wheel size, traction, RWS all in favor of better intake noise. If you actually think about it, all of that combined make much more than $20,000. GT3 is still the better value. Plus GT3 has manual.

Man this GT4 RS has me tempted. I wonder: if I put my name on a list at a larger dealer, what are my chances of getting one in 2-3 years at MSRP?

I actually like the look of the standard plastic window intakes better. Seems to flow more naturally with the lines of the car.
Plus, all of the exterior black plastic matches instead of a mix/match with carbon when you pick WP.
I wonder what the intake cover looks like in plastic vs carbon. I can only find the carbon one in videos and pics. Hopefully it still looks decent!

Also, the diff here is not the electronic diff from GT3? Why would that be?

Classic Porsche, let's do Ring lap times on tires that are not on production cars or offered as an option on the configurator. I want to see what the car will do on their standard tire offerings to customers.
Meanwhile, other manufacturers have to sell their cars with the same tires that did the Ring lap times.

"Ask Andreas Preuninger and he'll gladly tell you it was just an engineering problem that kept the GT3 boxer away from Caymans past. The 991-gen GT3 engine had a cast-aluminum dry sump oil tank that would not fit in a Cayman without major reengineering. But the new 992 -gen GT3 engine was designed with a composite dry-sump tank specifically designed to fit the Cayman."
So it seems that AP wasn't lying as the 992 engine is "different" and that he was referring to the 991 GT3 engine when it said the engine wouldn't fit. There you have it.
Another tid bit of info per AP, second gear tops out at 65mph so the gears really are shorter especially considering that it now runs out to 9k.

Also wondering how any roll-ball with harnesses would work. It looks like there is glass between the engine compartment and the cabin.. not sure aftermarket options will get around this (we don't have the roll bar option in the US).

Technically yes. Z06 can then put R888R on their as a ringer tire and gain an extra 5-6 seconds over Cup2R. When you look at Corvette times, cars are in a config that you and I can purchase. Look at the GT4rs Ring video, it has Cup2R tires (cant be ordered with the car), it has radio and A/C delete (cant be done in US), it has no passenger seat and lighter driver racing seat. I simply cant buy their car here. You can buy the Z06 or ZR1 as chevy used in their VIR or other official record break attempt videos.
