Holly ****!

That’s very fast and all that without any of the GT3’s trickery (suspension, rear wheel steering, etc).

Now if I can only win a lottery. :-)

OFFICIAL RELEASE !!!

Press Release

20/10/2021
World premiere set for November

New Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS excels during final testing

Stuttgart/Australia. The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 is getting a big brother: the 718 Cayman GT4 RS. The new top model in the 718 family is well prepared for its world premiere in November.

During final testing and evaluation drives, the first 718 to carry the RS badge has impressively demonstrated its dynamic potential both on twisty mountain roads and on the race track.

Brand ambassador and development driver Jörg Bergmeister has lapped the 20.832-kilometre Nürburgring-Nordschleife circuit in a lightly disguised production car in 7:09.300 minutes. The 718 Cayman GT4 RS completed the shorter 20.6 km lap, which had previously served as the benchmark, in 7:04.511 minutes – 23.6 seconds faster than its little brother, the 718 Cayman GT4. To protect the driver, the mid-engined sports car was equipped with a racing seat. The tyres fitted to the car were Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R, which will be optionally available. A notary confirmed the standard condition and weight of the car.

"During development, we gave the 718 Cayman GT4 RS everything that characterises a genuine RS: lightweight construction, more downforce, more power and, of course, an even higher level of responsiveness and feedback to driver inputs. The fantastic lap time of the Nordschleife is impressive proof of how clearly noticeable these improvements in driving dynamics are," said Director - GT Model Line, Andreas Preuninger. "Our customers can look forward to a pure driver's car that makes a thrilling driving experience an absolute priority."

"The 718 Cayman GT4 RS is an uncompromising driving machine. It feels as nimble as a go-kart on mountain roads, yet is impressively stable and well-balanced on the racetrack. Otherwise, such a lap time wouldn’t even be possible," said Jörg Bergmeister, who has devoted more than 500 hours to the 718 Cayman GT4 RS during test and tuning drives as part of the car’s development.

"The GT4 RS is one of the sharpest cars Porsche has ever developed. And you really have had to experience the breathtaking noise it makes for yourself."

Cup2R and more power and PDK is the bulk of the improvement. Looking forward to seeing what other changes have been made compared to the regular car. I think that the GT4 MR with Cup2 should run the RS very close.

9000RPM redline and the top speed is almost exactly the same as the GT3. Looks like I was wrong in my predictions!

Pricing and availability on the other hand..... This thing is gonna be a damn unicorn.

Top speed is near identical to the 992 GT3 lap as well, looks like this thing actually has the same power after all.

Definitely GT3 engine and shorter PDK gearing than the regular GT4.

its the same engine (sounded almost same as my bolt on GT4) with slight mods, also keep note the tires are Cup 2R as optioned in the video +lighter materials (which i would assume not more than 40KG) and more slight aero that made the 24 sec difference.

but bravo for the 4RS its amazing for people who would take the PDK GT4

Are you sure it has shorter gearing? It's doing over 150kph in 3rd gear. I think the gearing is the same, the engine just revs higher.

Yes. The GT4 does a lot more than 150 in 3rd with only 8000 RPM.

I was getting my 2nd and 3rd gears mixed up. My GT4 does about 135 in 2nd so this thing looks like it's an entire gear shorter. Wow.

I am glad I got a manual right now.

Yes!! We saw it first in Australia! My dealer was quick with the Instagram images. Nothing that we didn't know except release scheduled for next month plus a 'ring time.
