Yeah, why they didn't make fenders wider/be able to fit more rubber really kind of neuters the point of putting such a high powered GT3 engine in it. This makes the value proposition a much tougher call relative to the GT3. Excerpt from Motor Trend:

Let's Talk About That Nürburgring Lap Time

Porschephiles will no doubt note the GT4 RS' impressive 7-minute, 4-second Nürburgring lap time is roughly 9 seconds slower than the 911 GT3. Preuninger attributes the gap to several factors: First, the smaller tire contact patch limits maximum grip. Second, as noted above, the 911 GT3 produces more downforce. The rear-engine car also benefits from an electronically controlled rear differential, rear-wheel steering, and its control arm front suspension (the GT4 RS continues with MacPherson struts). And, of course, the 911 GT3 also makes a little more power and has different gearing.

This has not been enough to convince some internet personalities, however, who speculated the 718 Cayman GT4 RS had a braking issue during its Nürburgring lap, allegations Preuninger calls "downright ridiculous."

"I get very aggravated with these kinds of claims," he says. "They have no idea. Everyone thinks they are an expert because they analyze a video. The maker of that video [alleging brake issues] is welcome to come over and show what kind of lap time they can do."

Gorgeous car. Definitely a winner. As a 991.2 GT3 RS owner, I am jealous.

Even if I made no claims about the video, can I still come over and see what kind of lap time I can do? Herr Preuninger, please let me know. I'll try to keep my lap under 10 minutes.

I think the 6 individual throttle bodies are likely in the same place (right above intake valves), but the plumbing further upstream is reconfigured...

With respect to the lap times... when I go to the Canadian configurator, I don't see any option to choose SC2R tires for either the GT3 or GT4RS. Are they only available in other markets? Was the 4RS lap time definitely on the R tires?

Yeah, didn't see that option either. I'm guessing the lap time was done with mag wheels and on R tires. Probably PCCB too for reduced weight.

Yes the official laptime was done with Cup 2R's.

The fantastic lap time of the Nordschleife is impressive proof of how clearly noticeable these improvements in driving dynamics are," says Directors GT Model Line, Andreas Preuninger. Some interesting tidbits from Mr Andreas Preuninger on Top Gear vid about GT4 RS production volumes:

Mr Preuninger says they are "going to have a production run of at least two - two and a half years on that one." Says that "there will be plenty of cars coming around" and "We are not deliberately making a shortage of these cars. We are just producing as many as we can." (Sound familiar?)

He also throws in "I remember when we first introduced the 718 Spyder and the GT4. Everybody was crying 'Oh I didn't get a car.' Well, mostly everybody has one now."

He also lets leak that there is an option (CXX??) for a body color stripe on the bare CF Weissach hood just like a GT2RS had. He says his personal car has this option, but he cannot show it just yet.

PDK transmission only because it is an RS, and besides he says there Porsche has no manual transmission that will fit and is also compatible with this engine.

Also in this vid it is pretty clear in one shot that the front tire on the WP wheel is still only 245 section width Pilot Sport Cup 2. I haven't seen any clear shots of the rear tire yet.

The configurator is up and running, in the standard spec section it goes over the tire specs:

That stuck out to me as well. I was like, "Bruh, I'm at 32 months and counting waiting to get called to order a GT4"...wonder if I can "switch" if/when I do?

I wonder if "Mr. Rick" will soon have an influx of 4.5L orders now?
