I like Scarlet mate. Cars should have girls names IMO and Scarlet is not only hot but very good at what she does....

I'm liking Scarlet - Roxanne is a little too old to be applicable to a 3.2

Will be heading down to Caffeine & Classics this morning to catch up with a few people and take a look at some metal. Hopefully see a few of you there.

RE brake issue hasn't resurfaced, so fingers currently crossed that this is the cheapest repair bill I've had (at $50).

Just one of those "you don't know what you got 'til it's gone" effects I suppose. Stock for stock the newest 991 engines perform better but the development potential of what's essentially just detuned Le Mans kit is pretty spectacular, as has been shown many times over, particularly in the States. Ultimately chased off the road by emissions regulations, Mezger blocked/GT1 derived engines are still winning the World Endurance Championship (GT Class) as recently as this year, in the 911 991 RSR: https://www.stuttcars.com/porsche-models/911/991/rsr/
"Mezger" has been good engine but not bullet proof and not as reliable as you may think. The 4.0RS cars still suffering from engine problems (fact is 1 in 4 owners now has done engine work performed or engine replaced by factory!). Apparently race teams have not liked the 4.0 reliability preferring 3.6/3.8 units. These are 20-30hr tear down race engines. The 9A1 race engine is supposed to debut next year in the Cup cars. They have been testing this extensively but there are wrinkles to iron out so I'm not sure if it will happen in n time. With diesel gate we have a race program that could cause me under pressure and with WEC and GT3 rule changes I believe we will find turbo charging for homologination becomes more likely. PAG engineers are hoping to move the nine forward in next 911 race car so essentially we feel HD things moving in the direction they did for GT1 where there isn't any applicable road car. I imagine the 960 "FeFI" was intended to be the future platform for race button with rules changing we may never see this....

I was going to name my daughter Scarlet, but somehow Shaggitt was simply not going to float.

In order to clean up the sticky fluffy bits around my sunroof where the seal popped off the other day, before I stick the new sticky back seal on, what do I clean the area up with that won't damage the paint?

Entries for the 2016 Porsche Festival continue to be slow guys.

I currently have 2 entries for the dual car sprints and 6 for the Porsche Regularity Trials - these road car based events are going to be cancelled unless I can drastically improve numbers over the next 2 days.

If you are planning to enter - NOW IS THE TIME, before these events are cancelled.

A summary of the events can be found on the PCNZ site under the Festival Tab:

Trying to enter the Porsche Festival Sprints Paul (my brother is over from Aus from 15-25 Jan and we're having a late family Christmas, so can't justify two motorsport weekends in a row and it'll just be the Sprints). Motorsportentry wouldn't accept my entry and wants me to renew my motorsport licence first though apparently. The login page for MSNZ looks to be down so I can't even check on that right now.

Missed the 10am deadline for early entries now but will keep trying.

Question for the brains trust...

If I was to offer my SC up for sale, what are peoples thoughts on the best way to "market" it?

I'm still undecided if/when I will put it up for sale, but want to prepare the car properly. The general consensus seems to be to leave the paint as is, make sure its original as possible, and try not to let the tire kickers wear me down? I'd love to keep it off trademe but that's not always an option which is understandable.

Also if anyone has any real world guess at the value of a 1980 RoW SC with 40,000
k's on a top end I'd love to hear your thoughts. I know prices are very subjective, and what I've seen recently just makes me laugh... The car runs like a top. Only has maintenance records from my ownership, and a hand written receipt for the top end, provided by previous owner.
Interior looks great, with re-trimmed seats. Exterior has had a poor respray in the past. Looks great from 10 feet. Looks poor at 2 feet.

My biggest fear is running a trademe ad, that gets lots of interest and bids, but the sale doesn't go through at the end. This never ends well.... If that happened I would probably be forced to keep the car indefinitely haha!

Any thoughts appreciated. Either on here, or by PM

Chris

All entered now. Who else wants to come and play on track? Dual Sprints are an ideal taster for those maybe thinking of racing in the future since cars run in matched pairs rather than going 4 abreast into corners. Also your roofed street car is eligible - no cage etc needed, just an extinguisher and a Club level race licence - with still plenty of time to get that licence done. Happy to lend helmet and fireproofs if needed. Even on a quiet weekend, it'd be worth it for the buzz of launching off the grid. At the festival, it will be just epic.

Running through a list of past Sprinters and likely suspects:

Paul?
Patsy?
Ron?
Matthew?
ChrisB?
Neil?
ChrisM?
Dave?
Doug?
Mark?
Jake?
John? (you might be away though?)

Anyone else up for a run?

Nice find. Maybe RSG could sneak it in under the radar for next year's trolley derby?
