Any Rennlisters from New Zealand?

Are you guys still heading to South Island this year in late March?

And so you should be. I just spent 3 hours in Herman collecting parts for the race cars. There is no substitute for a 964 on a sunny day.

100% agree. If you want to get the garage relic out for a blast John join us in Jan. Im looking to organise a bit if a informal overnight northern hell run maybe stay overnight on Douggies bach lawn (will have to borrow Matty Gs love nest Tent or something). Maybe between 2-8 Jan if you are up for it. I have no idea whos up for it but I have some great route maps from Canonball Run I lent Ron which he fine tuned over a two day group drive up that way last year....

Yes, I am planning our annual road trip which will take a week each side of Easter in the South Island. We're likely to be in the Boxster as Jan prefers its comfort and it is the best for a long tour with the soft top and 2 boots. We won't have her sister and brother in law with us this time as they'll be overseas. I' hoping to include some favourites like marlborough, Akaroa, Arthur's Pass - probably on the train this time, the Otago rail trail on bikes, Mount Cook .... Etc.
I will probably drive down a weekend before to get the car in the South Island and fly back. May even leave the Boxster down in the SI if Lola is running and I can use her as my DD so we can do some long weekends down there with a car in the Autumn.

Paul. This one is for you. Low km, stock apart from SW bypass, nice condition NZ new with the rear seats optioned back in for the girls and you could haggle it to $118K I reckon and it would solved all your Porsche needs...it wont last long....

It could be worse and be north of $200k, but you have had 13 years of fun :-)
It looks like the 997.1 GT3 is now gone, so I can sleep again at night.
At Papamoa Beach from 02 - 06 Jan, otherwise around the house mate with a list of things to paint...............

Painting is over rated, but I can understand the priority. The trip North is comfortably done in a weekend. We know because we've been there done that. The hills before Kaitaia are magic. Should be even better in the Turbo 3.6 (me not you ). A quick squirt up to Cape Reinga after a cooked breakfast. Sounds sellable to Donna.

Well priced 997 GT3's dont last long these day do they. I think anything gen 1 997 GT3 will sell very quickly around 120K these days. Prices in the UK have gone skyward already.
I see Motorsport Services have just dumped 5 x 997 GT3 Cup cars (2010 spec) with rebuilt engines and spares on the market all at once just now - cant imagine that will be good for helping their prices stay strong - at 75-85K they are alot of car for the money if you are wanting to step up in the Porsche series. Heck if I owned an apartment at HD I might have one in the garage me thinks!
John, that's an excellent plan. Put me down for it.

North bound mission sounds great. Count me in. Happy to tent or find accommodation depending on situation.
Took an early morning drive down towards Raglan. Great roads and all but empty. Highly recommended. Worth a revisit, perhaps go all the way and have lunch in Raglan.

Jake that's a well worn route Ron takes on his Sunday drives with lunch at Raglan. Will have to get you along for one of those drives in the future...

Because this annoying RL website doesn't post photos from their iOS app I'm posting South Island Targa Tour photos to the Rennsport Gruppe page on Facebook. Lots of great cars here and wet weather looking like clearing

Great stuff Doug. I dont venture over there often so was good to see your pictures up. I reckon Rich will be glad he fitted those Michelin Super Sports at least for the first half of day one!
Who owns the white 991 GT3? Is it Auckland based? I was told there was only one other white 991 GT3 in NZ and Im guessing this is it (or a new arrival). I think Paul has spotted one in Auckland before...
