Great. That takes us to lucky 13 and $800 in the pot for brake work. While it's tempting to upgrade tyres and suspension, we need the pot to counter the unexpected breakdowns.

FWIW the current owner reminds me of Paul, or at least a bogan version. I don't thinks there's much we can do to this car that hasn't already been done.... Fwd power slide around turn 1 anyone?

You read my mind. Actually all I lost was the carry on but still dealing with the suitcases! As a winter weight of 93ish so probably in with the bigger boys. Diet will start after July NZ visit - cant deny myself those mother cooked roasts or the odd fast food binge whist back in godzone!

Dammit, I was going to be in with a chance of making a pass at HD if you'd gone with the Alfa!

Slightly off topic, I concluded today my research on Z221 replacements for the RSG group. I believe over time Z221 supply may become an issue.

The best multi size modern compound R tyre I cant find that rates consistently high with 964/993/996 and 997 GT3 owners are the Nitto NT01. These are tread wear 100 and will not heat cycle out, giving around 10-12 RSG playdays before they have had it and costing around 20% LESS thank Hankooks! They are readily available in NZ/Oz and come in a very good range of fitments sizes.

In terms of performance/speed they are unanimously better than R888s, V710s, old MPSC, and are considered second only to Z214s and R6 (Hoosier) in the states where people have run them back to back - they say 2s slower on a two minutes track than a Z214 which in real terms at somewhere like HD would be around 0.6s slower than Z221 per lap. They do however last twice as long as Z214s by all acounts and no not seem to heat cycle.

I will be buying as set to replace my Z221.

Not a bad compromise I think you will agree. Fractionally slower, last twice as long, cheaper and available with wide range of fitments....plus they look good too!

Not sure of tyre size; small?
Someone may recognise the wheels to be original or not and find out, other than that we will see tomorrow.
Didn't realise but it is NZ new.

Not sure if the trigger has been pulled on the Integra but a big warning here, that is not a b18c engined car. That is the non-Vtec B18b therefore 140hp instead of 180hp. It is therefore not a competitive 2k Cup car, the Vtecs and 20 valves will blitz past you on the back straight. It won't be super slow and should still be quite reliable but I think you'd be missing quite a trick not getting one with one of the greatest 4 cylinder engines ever made.

Yes, aware of that. It was covered in the auction questions.

With 13 people involved it's not feasible to compete in 2kcup, a fact that made it easier for us.

The car will be very busy just giving everyone a good chance to do their best for the leaderboard. After we've all had a go, it might interest some to try it in 2kcup as a tester. The reality of 2kcup is that you can't be competitive for $2,000. This car has probably $1,000 + of gear you wouldn't get in a street car, but would want for a track car.

You're welcome to join in the fun. As often happens, things lead on to others. If you're competitive against the others you may be able to get a small team together for a serious tilt at 2kcup, knowing that you enjoy the class.

The current owner is running repco sourced pads and cheap tyres. He said Bridgestone Porenza is the tyre of choice for the 2kCup.

Let me know tyre size when you pick it up. From memory 2kcup have to run tyres with tread wear rating of at least 200 so have limited options. We can run it on whatever we have!

Mark Mallard, Prestigio broker for a few of us, runs in 2kcup. He came and saw us at the enduro at Pukekohe. I'm sure he would be happy to help with advice.

That sounds dangerous.

@ Michael, better to join in than have Paul hunt you down!

Thanks for doing the foot work on this. Logically, Z221s performance becomes less relevant if no one has them. Who is the preferred supplier out there for Nitto e.g. The mega tyres equivalent?
