Good news!!!

Drove the 993 home for a gentle drive to run in those syncros…………..drives mint!! Everything went really well! Tested the LSD and it is working perfectly, chalk and cheese from what it was so all the work was worth while.

Fitting up those proflex sway bar bushings now. The GT3 is on a hoist and we are into the engine swap.

That gives us $600 on top of the purchase price to keen it on the road/track. If Steve and Dan throw in some mechanical aptitude that should stretch to fixing some minor mishaps.

I'm cautiously optimistic this car will last through the NITT. I'm also confident that we as a group can make it work. I'll do my best to get the car tomorrow, put a banner on it and give thoughts to what is urgent work. After that, first up best dressed to get it on the track. Maybe the Gymkhana? The next big RSG gathering is 19/7 which I can't make. If we can't get it parked at HD before then I think we get it to Chris M's place.
Good stuff John - suggest payments from all to the RSG account and I'll reimburse you from there?

Yes, although let's hold off until I have done the transaction. There is still a chance it may not happen. I've been gazumped before with red cars!

Don't forget it is ONO, John
try for a bit of a grind..I reckon if you offer him a go, there's $200 in it..
What about extending her life by putting a 'voluntary' rev limit on her..
Honesty would prevail on the lap times

Phil, my poker face is crap. Need a serial car buyer like Dave to accompany me.

Not sure on the weak point with this car. I'm hoping the crap tyres and old brakes will keep the clutch and engine intact for a while.

As for honesty...I think we can rely on the group to keep each other on the right side of line as there will generally be something or someone doing the timing.

I'll come. But just because I've had a lot of cars, doesn't mean that I know how to avoid lemons. Co incidentally, my two previous Alfa's were lemons so I'm going to try and improve my sucsess rate there.
Rule number 1 in the RSG leader board handbook;
John and Dave should not be held responsible if the car fails at the first turn. It is an alfa after all and that should be expected.

And while it's parked in sight of my place I'll keep an eye out for john fitting a concealed switch that unlocks the last 20BHP that only he knows about.

LOL. Fairest comparisons would be back to back runs with a pre-warmed up car and tyres at similar pressures and temps, but I can see that "I never got a clear run" T-shirt becoming pretty popular, along with the 'mildly moist' rider!

To be really fair of course, we'd also have to fly car and drivers over to Australia or something to tracks none of us have ever driven. Next best is Hampton as we've all run that a fair bit already. Don't think my times will worry anyone on the NITT!

We could also run a leaderboard at Formula E or one of the other kart tracks.

Was in the this morning, looking at both of your cars at each end of the workshop

Dismantling had begun early, will take an update shot when I pickup my car later today.

Thanks Dave. While we would all love the price to be lower, I'm not too concerned at this level. I'll text you tomorrow morning. We need to get this concluded by 11am, and yes this is a best endeavors effort. It is a $1,400 car after all, which is less than a set of track tyres.

Just had lunch with Mark H. We now have 11 starters, and more importantly our maintenance budget lifts to $800.
