Any Rennlisters from New Zealand?
All of those interested in the RSG 'beater' car. Which of the following options interest you most?
1. 2k cup competitive car - run a time board like Top Gear with everyone getting a go, then enter it in events as a RSG team with drivers based on merit.
2. Same as above but not so focussed on finding a top competitive car.
3. RSG beater car running a time board like Top Gear with everyone getting a go. Car chosen based more on performance and condition than strict 2k cup rules. No real intention to run in 2k cup.

We're up to 11 in the group for the day and still few regulars to hit the 'sign-up' button. Mind you, by the state of Conti's car park today (sorry, Ron, Walter...) there are a few that probably won't be making it!
Dropped in to see the Macan - nice looking for an SUV and great sitting up front but no chance of anyone over 5'10'' in the back - my head was twisted sideways. There's more headroom in the back of a 964 (just nowhere to put your legs!)
Someone needs to insert a 959 before we miss it! (I'm not sure how)
Just been thinking, has anyone ever requested NZ gets it's own sub-forum? It would be a lot easier to divide things up into dedicated threads rather than having them all mingled into one here. Then there can be one for track talk, one for beater car, one for general etc.. Thoughts?

Crap to try and locate anything though, unless you're Matt G with the knack of remembering exactly what page.
Plus you couldn't ruin it for the 993,996 & 997 guys who are just waiting their turn to post a single pic of their cars . We need to make it to page 1,000 at least.
Could work very well or very badly. This thread has found a bit of life after being pretty dormant 18 months back - I wonder if part of that is the single thread which people use to hang out. Could lose that if it got fragmented. There have been other NZ threads posted on specific topics but this is the one everyone comes back to.

I enjoy the generality and comradeship of the thread, and specific detail threads on track/tech/etc would dull that
Keep Macca very busy tho'
I spoke briefly with Steve about 924s for 2k cup. Apparently the rear drum brakes are a track weakness and they cost more than you think to keep in good shape. His suggestion was to go Japanese as the technology has moved on a lot and is cheaper to keep going.
Only a couple more posts and 959 gets away without a single mention!
Dave, what's the loaner (carrera?) like to drive? I reckon that hole punched mesh look in the doors can make them look a bit cheaper. That's where something like the Singer criss cross can look good, whatever you do you'll need to play with the scale of the emboss a fair bit and on your chosen material before committing..

Last 1c on the property question...
I'd defer to your experience on this but it is not my experience in the contract I'm currently managing. The increase observed has shocked even the QS I'm dealing with who undercooked the estimate by a good margin. I'm being advised trade services have increased by as much as 20% in last 12 months.
12 months ago, maybe. Now, no. A nice (not at all flash) 4 bed with a bit of lawn is vic $2M. 3 bed on a main rd maybe. A complete wreck and practically uninhabitable 3 bed (untouched for 70yrs), requiring complete rebuild with a protected badged Pohutakawa growing through the foundations on 800m just sold at tender for 1.47M. No views or anything nice.
I recently missed out at auction on a nice 4 bed which needed landscaping. CV 1.25ish. Half a dozen bidders at packed auction, went for 1.993M.
But like you say, who knows what the future will bring. In the long term, it doesn't really matter.
Anyway, cars are far more interesting.
Christchurch will NOT drive trades people costs up in ALK (by much if anything).
Devonport is undervalued, you can buy a nice house for $1.5M

No, stick with the 'reasonably priced car concept.' Guarantee it will be a lot of fun. 7 sessions at Taupo, 2 groups means that 14 RSG members can have a go. Macca can take the first run on a cold track followed by Paul...!
