Good in the wet. A 964 set for $1600. Drift on turn 3. What more could you want?
I've come across a thread or two on RL pretty unhappy with R888s when they get low and the non-R compound is exposed - as in zero warning & into the wall. Easily managed of course - don't wear them too low, but wanted to make it known.

Cars with full tanks of gas, empty boot (no spare etc). I won't post the driver weights apart from saying I get a 15kg advantage there :-)
These weights are driverless:

Lola 1334kg. 2 x std bucket seats (45kg), black forged 996 wheels with R888s
Herman 1380kg. 1x 8kg seat, fuchs with road tyres
Daves 80's loaner 1140kg

So of course John is looking where he can loose 36kg to get down to Lola weight. Problem for him is I've got quite a lot to loose in the seats and I suspect the wheels if I revert to the D90 16" on good rubber. Heh.

Yes, as is Herman is 46kg heavier and the driver difference is 14kg on top of that, giving up 60kg in total as tracked last weekend, to Lola.

Lola could drop another 37kg if she had Herman's seat configuration. so call it close to 100kg in possible track configuration.

Lola's wheel weights (half worn tyres all round)

Rear
Black 17" 996 22kg
Gold 16" D90 19.7 kg (2.3)

Front
16" D90 18.4 (0.5)
17" 996 18.9

So 5.6kg saving, less inertia, lower gear ratios for the 16's. Just need some better rubber

Fuchs and 17" 225/45 Z221 = 19.3kg - 21.2kg with Frankenstein D90
Fuchs and 17" 255/40 Z221 = 20.9kg. - 22.5kg with Frankenstein D90

Track weight is therefore another 7kg so all up differential last Sunday was 67kg.

Macca - these 964 boys need to hang their heads in shame.................

We have the same engine, 50kg's more, and the 993 is 3-4 second's a lap quicker.................

Macca,
You have the wrong type of embossing in your mind. Not ornate western gun belt style, but think basket weave etc. here is an example of embossed dots. The Singers have basketweave style. Nescessary IMO to hide the blandness of just flat leather on a particularly featureless 911 door panel.
The anodising - I will have to wait until it is all together to nail the colour for sure

wow 100kg. don't they say 10kg in F1 = 1/10th?
I reckon its quite hard to feel 20kg but 80 kg+ is another matter you will definitely feel that. The only thing is reduced contact patch on 16 wheel may give back a little but the saving on unsprung weight is magnified so probably worth it.

Better get to action Doug asap

Phew. David. That's a relief. I quite like that effect and its very period too....

Doug/John. Both your cars are much lighter than I would have assumed. What does the wheel and the tool kit and the bump weigh? The factory measure with these in place so that is always how I have measured my car. It would be useful for Paul and I to understand as Paul recently had his weighed with half a tank but wheel/toolkit/pump present at 1364 so that's approx 1385kg full tank factory measurements against a published weight of 1370kg (without sunroof and zero options). Im thinking Doug's C2 is around 1350kg with all the junk in the trunk. Still lighter than the 993.

John. Your car appears about the same weight at Pauls. For a C4 this is good and you should be pleased. Id imagine you need some corner balancing to compensate for lack of passenger seat. You could fin that helps you along in transitions like turn 3.

Paul I have no idea why these 964 guys are so slow :-). Especially now we have both backdated our suspension by removing the 993 weissach effect (rubber sub frame mounts to rigid). Given the weights are about the same (and lets not go there with drivers as we are both on the "heavy" side). Maybe its the 30 bhp?

John. Frankly I was a bit shocked to find Dougs bog standard pressure cast 996 wheels are lighter than your forged Fuches!

Paul. I see you significantly edited your original post!

Sean isn't a first time home buyer, but a fairly sophisticated investor with global visibility.

I was giving my POV if I were to be looking to return to NZ and "invest" in the current Auckland property market.
