I bought TT wheels a wee while back, have used them once..(outstanding) but seriously doubt given the way I use my car, that I need them
Well gang! It does seem everyone is either sleeping, editing video or just zoning out after the SITT based on how quiet it is here. I'm _still_ envious of the trip & pass my time looking at possible 911 replacements.
I've attached a flyer that ended up in my outlaws' mailbox the other week. They also live on appropriately twisty roads. Maybe a detour drive if you find yourself needing to hit Mercer Cheese or heading points south.
Chris, I think it's a mixture of many things. Not least of which is attending to the items neglected over the SITT period. I think it will be quiet for a few weeks.
Hi guys, just wondering if CCS is the only go to place or whether you'd get costings from other workshops? Am I missing something??
First critical point is the rapport you have with the workshop and manager. Second is the likelihood they see a lot of a model.
I use CCS because I get attention from Dean and they generally diagnose quickly. They also fit the parts I order from elsewhere. Thats a big plus e.g. My fuel pump for the 996TT was $1,100 from Pelican Parts but $2,400 from Porsche NZ. They were happy to fit the imported part.
^^^ well put. I'd imagine most in dependants these days will fit offshore sourced parts. If you haven't yet formed a relationship with a service outfit then you have plenty to choose from in Auckland...

Continentals have done most of my work but other options within a few hours drive include;
Europacific
Giltraps
Motorscience
Some of the smaller stuff I get done elsewhere since I have found race shops and even Ferrari independents hard to beat for decent pricing on things like oil changes and pad changes (with rotor clean) - basically the kind of stuff I used to do more of myself on the earlier 928 before the kids came along. I still research the jobs and provide proper pads/Porsche approved fluids/filters etc.
Apologies if I've missed others but I'm sure someone will add them to the list.
RUF Bilsteins have been re-shafted. The guy that did them said they were in great condition. Now I just have to change out the borrowed ones. Given I need to get the Turbo 3.6 ones out for fixing I figure it's time to do some DIY. Does anyone have a lead on the special tool used to loosen the top bolt? I may just buy one but no harm in asking.
