I seriously think you should find at least a Dave or a Dave and a half at HD next weekend. If you were running Z221 soft there Id imagine you would now be closing in on the 1.20-1.21 range observing your times at Taupo. The tyres will make a huge difference.

Look out for Sean on any TV Targa updates from Friday - hes flying the RSG banner this year in his 964!

"A Dave and a half" - soon to be found in the urban dictionary. I like it!!

Not sure what I've let myself in for but took up Rob's offer to run at tomorrow's Puke track day.... Think Matt will be there as well? Apparently (Rob's words) the boy racers all crash out in the first few laps so I guess that means more track time if you survive to the afternoon!!

Glad I'll have some company, I'm not sure what to expect but probably chaos levels similar to an Uncle's day. What time are you heading down? There are 71 cars and ~140 people attending, so it sounds like it'll be pretty busy.

I'm chuffed For my name to be associated with improvement, not crashing and burning. It could have gone either way.

I think track starts at 10, gates open at 9 so guess I'll aim to be there around 9:15 or so. Rob suggested to take extra fuel. Not entirely sure how they run it but he said up to 25 cars in a group - we'll see.... will at least be a good laugh.

Interesting colour combo? I've seen the car before at motorsciene, it had rough paint and rust. it looks like this has been removed. Will be interesting to see how long it sits. Probably end up going to Aussie?

I recall the lefty orange/gold RS and the silver 930 well.
Dudley Watts in the RS (2.9), and Gordon Burr in the 79 930. I believe the 930 used to belong to Olly, who imported it. My guess is 1986 for this photo.

The Dudley Watts car went to Perth and now resides in America. I have lots of period photos of that car around 1985-87 and recently sent them to the current owner.

Gordon Burr rolled the 930 in the first year of Bridgestone. Not sure what happened to it??

I would have been keen but on Holiday at Mt Maunganui until Tuesday.

Plus Classic Trials next Sat and Play Day next Sun doesn't leave too much 'domestic credit' in the bank............

Have fun...............

I'm not sure it matters since both are at the same place but it's Playday on Saturday and Regularity on Sunday.

It's organized through here if you want to keep an eye on it for next time: https://www.facebook.com/NZtrackday

It's the last event for this year. $100 prepaid, or $140 at the gate.

Interesting thoughts in this thread in the racer section. Simon G told me to get a Hans. I couldn't see the point at my level, but want to get a harness. The thread poses the thought that it's safer to have a three point belt without Hans than a 5 point harness without Hans. The main reason is the head and neck whip more when the body is held tight. https://rennlist.com/forums/racing-a...ans-safer.html

John. At our level we dont need either. Just a good seat that holds you in place. A harness is not stopping me going faster today. Ask me when I get to 1.16 LOL!
