John. Your catching up on lost time (in NZ) so your allowed to be a collector for now. I suspect its just a stage you go through (like I did) LOL!

Jamie. Yip it was Jon Warring! He turned it into an 993RS spec on Motec for class A Bridgestone where he ran it (I think).

Yip. I was was a drug addict Id be injecting it in the eyeballs by now! Lets hope AAPL post good results tonight so I can pay for all of this!

Peter, give us a few lines on your day. Did you mix it up?

I think Matt's description of today at Puke was interesting! Completely different event than our usual days at HD - I reckon there were 100 cars there, groups of 25 at a time. There were some good drivers and there were some very average drivers! The fact that there were 3 write offs in the first 2 hours pretty much sums it up. Too fast, too few skills, cold tyres with too much pressure...

We were lucky that there were a fair few race cars so we ran with them for the day - relatively short sessions though. Was good to get more experience of driving in that environment - passing allowed anywhere - but maybe too much for the first time running at the track. I've been there before but long before RSG days. Anyway, Matt has the evidence on video of a slight altercation with the grass at the esses which resulted in me ending up middle of the track facing the wrong way and the next 6 cars splitting and passing me on either side... Just reminded me that the S2 is a whole lot different to the C4 which looks after you almost too well - seriously need to work on some driving skills.

After today's carnage am really looking forward to this Sat at HD - much more familiar track and therefore a better place to learn the new car.

Sounds a bit manic. You should try Regularity. Cars at close quarter but more organised. Is Tony bringing the C4 out on Saturday?

No - he's off for a spot of fly fishing or shooting, can't recall which. He has far too many hobbies!

I drove the C4 for a bit last week and you know, I'm struggling to part with it - it just drives so damn well! Part of me is relieved that it's not doing track duty any more as it's come through the last year unscathed and been hell of a lot of fun doing it. I'm toying with the idea of just driving it and reserving any future mods for the road. Much as I'd hate to be labelled a copycat, this is exactly the look I'd want...

So talk me in or out of it!

LOL! Bring it on. You are in the wrong place for being talked out off it!

Glad you survived today. The castrol S's are famous for that. I think its where John almost lost t too.

You will find 2WD quite a bit of fun vs 4WD once you get more experience with it in the 944. Very neutral platform not as unforgiving as 2WD in 911.

I've had all three cars out in the last four days. The 996TT brought me back from the Tron, the C4 went to Mitre 10 and the Supermarket and the Turbo 3.6 went to the Supermarket again, any excuse to drive. All were great in their own way. The 996TT has cruise control and a hard wired Radar/Laser so is a great tourer and DD, the C4 is noisy, short action clutch and direct input, whereas the Turbo 3.6 just rolls through the twisties (of Mission Bay) on a wave of torque.

They all have their place, but I'm not sure I could do a 964 as a DD in Auckland traffic. The traffic flow is auto transmission based. 1st is too tall and 2nd is manic at 60km. Not enough to put you off? Let's move to money. Wheels @ $4,000 + and add a ducktail @ $2,200. Let's call it $7,000 to start to look like this car.

Still interested, well the positive is that I don't regret a cent. The Turbo 3.6 is too good to play with, whereas the 964 is replaceable and it's my configuration. I enjoy having something different to drive. I've copied a theme but I've yet to see my exact car on the Net.

No, I would likely look at it when someone coughs up a race car. I don't have the patience to do another build, or the stomach for open ended costs. I'd prefer to buy cents on the dollar, even though I know it likely wouldn't be a winning car.

Yes, and almost is the word. Should I bring the other L plate on Saturday?
