Nice car Doug. Well done mate...............

These cars are a lot of bang for the buck. You will be cleaning up the Gymkhanas too.

I'd say you will be sub 1.20's.

Enjoy the car............

Bugger, as soon as John gets up to speed.......I'm gonna be the slowest one.

I thought it had but I'm not 100% sure. I asked when I was down at Powerhaus a couple of weeks ago if any 964RS's remain in WGTN and they hadn't seen any for quite some time. However I wouldn't be surprised if the White "Dong" car is still around but in storage.

Very capable car Doug. Saw an "Anniversary" Boxster on TM last week I think and that looked a great car!

Interesting article in the Whittakers and as you are probably aware they also own a Mac F1!

Thanks guys. I had two of the same model, same year, immaculately presented to choose between. One 1 owner NZ new in my colour preference; 1 UK import, 3 owners, slightly better interior, nicer wheels and better newer rubber. Tough choice. In the end I chose on intuition selecting the dark grey NZ heritage car. It's just had a new clutch and DM flywheel which are pretty expensive and weighted in its favour also. It's done 75k

It was nice to actually have a couple of good samples to choose from. There's not a lot of manuals around and it had to be manual :-)

Hi Doug. Congrats on the new ride! You aren't going to know yourself with almost 300 bhp!

Out off curiosity did you look at a 2013 MY 981 Boxster S PDK like the one on TM for under $100k. I'm pretty sure you could buy a UK import less than 12 months old for under 100k over the next few months which would be beating the first few years depreciation on a NZ new car....

Sorry Doug. Just looked on TM and realized there is quite a "price gap" there! The 987 looks very good value!

That will be a while away yet, unless I turn to the dark side and remap the 996 Turbo to ~ 500 hp and put some track tyres on it.

Thanks Macca. Yes, I've studied that option hard for too many months. Both near new and brand new ex-UK. I figured I could spec my ultimate 981 and land it here for just over NZ$100k for the configuration I would like. But there's the stigma with UK imports, like that brown one that's been on TM all year for around $100k and isn't moving despite being a good deal vs NZ new. I'm going to the UK for a few days in early November. It could be dangerous.

Haha, thanks John. Hadn't thought past "just as well I hadn't got around to putting one of my banners on my 986". May need to review my banner colour choices. Lots to look forward to.

Awesome Doug - very nice purchase. When I see you in the mirrors I'll be sure to pull to the side from now on!

Doug, i should have suspected you were on the slippery slope when you pulled the spare wheel and were carrying a light fuel load at HD.

Follow this thread for long enough and you can see how people end up racing V8 Lawnmowers! Enough is never enough

Yup - in the late 80's everyone wanted a 930T or a 2.7 RS, then a 964 cup car or RS in the 90's, and then 996 Cup car in the 2000's......

Nothing new about people trading up for more HP.........!

We alll want GT3's now don't we.............
