John. You have your priorities right.

Your driving comfort is absolutely paramount to getting the most out of this car. I'm really not sure what else you can try here. Pete H and I are similar height and I have plenty of room when he doesn't, so its partly anatomical (torso length). Some people are just too tall to ever fit in one of these small cars comfortably - so short of a height reduction operation you may just have to find the best compromise.

Reliability is the next biggy before spending money elsewhere. I think you are well on the road to getting this sorted out now and hopefully the 31st shakedown before the NITT will demonstrate that you have it all nailed down. Then there is nothing that can unexpectedly spoil your fun. Ive been chasing down three issues from my 2010 "rebuild" for years (vibration at 4000 rpm - turned out to be air con pump bearing!, shift issue on load - turns out to be a seal or something and a tuning issue I havent bothered to chase up yet). Some things just take time.

With the rest as Graeme alludes and you already know its much about doing your research and also talking to others that have found remedies such as Pete, David and Sean. Its great you have a local base of 964/993 owners to leverage from.

Once you are comfortable, safe, reliable and fast as you say plenty of time to explore the esoteric stuff such as cosmetics, performance upgrades etc.

I need to source some more sports seats. Rather embarrassing when Dave's friend came around to see the Turbo 3.6 sans seats.

Gratuitous photo sharing. Went for a drive (quick look at Dave's wheel and tyre collection - looking great) then took some pics on the 5D

Ironically and true to form, I should have bought a set of Fuchs up front but couldn't get my head around the asking price. Have spent that and some to date on more wheels, spacers and tyres than I will ever need. Macca's words ring true, plan twice and spend once.

Think Turbo 3.6 Speedlines at $14,000 new and it all comes into a new perspective

Thanks Craig. I used the address on their website but have resent to the one you noted. Wasn't really chasing them as not very important but still want to keep things moving.

Cheers

Thanks Craig. All sorted. GSA845 will be in the paint shop straight after HD on the 31st and will be ready for the NITT.

That makes both of our Porkers off to the paint shop. Mine is going in on Monday on an insurance job.

Getting the brake ducts installed at the same time, the bumperettes and the rear basket handle deleted .

I like the contrast of your black wheels against the red body colour. A great combination IMO. I recently got the same set of wheels for the track and had them painted black gloss. Very happy with the look.

Thanks Doug. Funny thing is I've never really been fussed with them but had heaps of comments similar to yours about how good the car looks with the black wheels. I'm actually about to change them for these.

The 2nd pic is how the car came into NZ.

In searching for the pics above I found these pics of the Ex-Whittakers 964RS. Given the recent posts on 964RS's I thought you all might like to see another

After a weekend with Conti's demonstrator manual 981 Boxster S I've had the heart strings pulled in different directions! The 981 is an amazing machine which I fell head over heals in lust with.

However, hating the thought of the first 4 years depreciation from buying new I decided to upgrade to the sensible option, a 2007 NZ new 987.1 Boxster S 3.4. Getting it fully checked out at Motorscience tomorrow.

I know power isn't everything but coming from a 229hp 2002-3 Boxster 986 to a 2007 295hp Boxster S 987 will substantially increase the smile on my dial and hopefully get me under 1.20 at HD when I get the car and driver "sorted". And maybe I can keep up with one or two of you older 911s with lesser power

At the same time it's so hard to say good bye to my beloved 986. 30,000km in 18 months, and upgrades to die for (that I can't find in available 987s).
