Weather for the Sprints and Regularity trial was on/off drizzle. A few harmless offs and spins, but one 997 Turbo driving RSG member kissed the tyres and will need a good panel beater.
As for me, I saw an opportunity to get a clear run. 1:23.04 [they timed it at 1:22.98] and was black flagged, well told to slow it down. Life is good! I ran the AIM Solo under a hood so have the data. Sorry Peter, but still comparing to your best timed lap on the 20th. I still need to sort out turn 1 & 10. Still, very happy. Doubt I could go anywhere near that in the 964 right now, but I was on road tyres in the 996 so not all bad. Me in red, Peter in blue.

Thanks Macca. While we are on the subject of tires:

Covers a few of the tires we've been discussing here, they've used the S04 over the RE11 for the test though.

Great day! We had one good dry run and all the rest various degrees of damp, drizzle and wet. Waiting for the times to be posted but think I squeaked into the 1.20s on best lap while Paul and I were dicing.
Sean, I can give a load more feedback on the 221s in the wet now - Lol!! Found the limit again on the last run of the day - combined group sprints. Pushed a tad hard out of the sweeper and a dainty 180 into the sand. Red flag finish - sorry to the others!!

Good work gents. 1:20 is freakin fast. Weather radar for tomorrow has some clear patches early afternoon so we might be OK.
A rainy Saturday for me means garage time, not gardening time but it seems you can do that in a Porsche too, Pete?
First job, fab a handle for the RS door cards. The drilling will be worth it for lap times you know. Will powdercoat it black. Also made a plain one in case of ridicule.
Second job, push the bidding up on Kiwisean's Simmons wheels. Hope it wasn't a fellow Rennsporter.
Thirdly, file the marks off a newly acquired set of 7 and 8" D90's, can you believe they owe me 50 bucks? I can't either. Just been chemically dip stripped ready for powdercoat and a fresh set of Dunlop D03G's.
And fit the Cup 2's ex Macca to get an idea of rear spacer size required. I can't figure out how John and Sam are getting oil line rub with 9" ET 55 when this is factory Cup wheel spec? I forgot to look at mine.

And wasn't so much gardening as playing in the sandpit...

I gave the wheels a shot, but was beaten. Kind of weird wheels but would have come up good.

Ron will be grumpy tomorrow
Good work Pete. Getting quick now. Im not sure how much is left there? Making it hard for my second foray to HD next year probably some time who knows. I was hoping yourd be chasing me LOL! Dreams are free....
David. Im liking your approach here. A true creative. If I were in NZ Id be exploring some of these avenues too. Ive learnt with wheels that the ones you pay the least for are often the ones that look best on the car of all. Theres a lot of snob value with wheels and who they are made by etc. Its a bit like race seats and suits.
John. Good work. How do you drive the Tipo 996TT? Are these manual shifts or full auto?

Macca, full auto. The drive out of the slow corners is outstanding. The box always seems to know what I'm likely to need. You can see that on the straight out of turn 9.
While it's great to drop 8 seconds in one go I can't but think it's less satisfying than pedaling the 964. Full air con, George FM on the radio, hands never having to leave the wheel. Power to burn. ABS , PSM. You get the idea.

I really enjoyed the challenge in the wet today. Was surprised and really happy how my 1/3rd worn R888s performed in the wet. Managed a PB in the dry run of 1m24.12 which I think is possibly not too shabby for a std 986. Wild love to get a Solo to get timing info.

It was a good day.
Peter has turned into the wet weather whippet.............some impressive speed in the wet.
I was surprised how well the 221's handle the weather, they are a very impressive all round tire.
I'm not sure if I can come tomorrow guys. If I do it will be in avo only I think..............
