I will be on roadies - no idea how they will go or last. Only 185/215 and period profile so big sidewall, hard to say if they will last well over a session or over the weekend. No matter. Think I will have to try following Dave to show me the lines for classic car. What tyres you on Dave?

I'm on Dunlop Direzza z2's. Not much of an expert here but these are 2k cup spec, and I have 205-50's. Pretty small tyres and low sidewall for an old 911. They feel good and main reason I went that way was to get a bit of track time in the new car first with not such aggresive tyres then move on to Toyo R888 or similar later on. I put 195-65 Pirelli's on the road wheels and they would be a bit of a handfull I think - plus they have tubes because of the deep 6 fuchs inability to take modern valve stems so not willing to track those.

Much appreciated Paul. 32 plus laps at Playday speed is good value. Plus we get the practice and qualifying laps as well.

Although perversely it made the dual car sprints less worthwhile, especially as they are uninsured so I've withdrawn from the second weekend.

It will be interesting to see how many choose a time close to the lower bar or I suppose even chose to compete for the win.

Paul - you keep mentioning that you'd like to take it for a proper fang... I reckon its only a matter of time eh?!

Yes - I am weak.............it will happen one day..........

Spent the afternoon cruzing around the Eastern Bays in Scarlett with the girls. I see why half you guys like living out that way, driving around the Bays is nice.

I got to see JMc's car in the flesh too - Herman is looking really sharp, I really like white 911's.

JMc is a happy man and I would be too if I owned Herman

Thanks Paul. I'm pretty pleased with how the refurb went. So far it seems to be solid. I will found out how solid on Monday afternoon

Meanwhile it's the Cayennes turn to have some love. I'm not impressed that the recent annual service didn't include a basic check of the cowl drains, a known weak point on Cayennes where leaves are trapped in the drain and end up flooding the passenger carpet when the drain overflows.

Ditto that - Tony and I flagged him down on Shore Rd for a look. Incredible outcome - every thing looks just perfect. And sounds amazing - I wouldn't change a thing with that exhaust!!

Great day at the track today....

Prestige group was around 10 cars. Leong was there in his new GT4 having already completed 3000 road break in Kms over the last three weeks!

First session at 10am was slightly damp but by the third session the ambient was 26 and the track temp 43. A real sizzler of a day.

Had a ball in the GT3. Fitted the Gopro to the Rennline tow hook using the adaptor so got some really cool groundcam footage along with the usual in car telemetry.

The day ran smoothly with only one significant accident (it was in our group a 2014 RS4 wagon - re arranged the passenger side from end to end side and front bumper - uninsured). Im not really certain what happened.

We were driving into a SW wind 26kmph on the rise of the straight which affected Vmax more significantly than I anticipated. Top Vmax for me was 4kmph down on 20 September track day (228 v 232) and average was down by almost 7kmph.

Other factors differing from 20 September were ambient temps (15 v 26) which translated directly to a increase in average airtake temperature of 22 in Sept vs 30 today.

Slow traffic was an issue in the early sessions bit by the end of the day there were only 6 of us out these for the last two sessions. A good spread of cars too.

In terms of PB+theoretical best times a small improvement only. Frankly I wasn't expecting much. 1.13.63 (1.11.97 TB) with a frustrating constancy that saw my best lap times per session for all but the first damp session all within 1.5 tenths for the whole day! A dozen in the 13s proved that the car (and driver?) were really consistent. I went out there to finish off some tyres and have some fun and achieved both plus a slightly better PB to boot.

Leong enjoyed the GT4. Started conservatively and by the end of the day had adjusted the rear wing and front inserts which helped with speed a little. Like myself he has stayed with the factory sessions so the next set of changes will be the sway bars. I think this will help with his under-steer issue. I softened my front one off one notch before going out and it did help instill a fraction more confidence. Ill let him talk more about the car himself but suffice to say that hes a good driver so with a combination of some extra seat time and dialing out some under-steer I expect he'll find at least another 1.5s this year. Infact with a cooler day and no wind he may well already find half a second without needing to d any more...

Ill post some in car and bumpercam footage over the next little while.

Thanks Paul for looking out for us and making the regularity worth doing. Much appreciated.

John, pity Herman won't be wearing the Fuchs

P.S. Has anyone seen rotors do this? Brand new (500 road km only) factory rotors and pads purchased and fitted by CCS first track day and I have "chipping" at the holes!! Also now have brake judder as those rough edges have scored new the front pads. Quite hacked off. Will be going for a warranty claim I think!
