Jason, the question you have to ask yourself is what do you want from your Porsche experience?

We all have different needs and desires.

You should write this down as it will guide your direction.

A 997TT has the same short comings as your current car - fantasic GT, but not a track car, you will just be 2 sec up the road??

Someone needs to build a narrow body 74-76 with a 3.6. The real sleeper 911. Paint it sand beige or something interesting and give it a mean suspension job.
Just chucking ideas out there for you Jason.

Herman's refurb involves two pieces of bodywork 1. fixing the damage from a hyper extended driver door and 2. the multiple dents on the bonnet from closing it on an overfilled frunk. John sent me this pic today. The gap is back to Porsche factory spec. As a precaution I'm going to fit a reinforcement kit to the passenger door to prevent this happening again.

Otherwise the rabbit hole gets ever deeper. The engine tin is in great condition so I will keep it that way with either paint or powder coating. The engine support is getting a Rennline gusset as I can't believe that two small welds hold the engine. I'm replacing the dizzy caps and rotors. Still prevaricating over the spring plates, but In the back of my mind I know it's going to happen.

Love the creative thinking. Throw in a G50 5 speed to boot. Good luck finding an unused 3.6 engine I reckon Steve R has the monopoly on those for his future personal projects LOL!

Like this. I think you could almost pull off a brush finish hand paint job too if it was a roughy and trouser the $10k for go fast bits

Now I know that sounds weird but gloss paint would flatten itself off well enough and it would show for what it is - not perfect but unique.

One of my favourites.... Not strictly narrow body but check out the gloss black Fuchs. $70 bucks a wheel to powdercoat versus a $1500+ proper fuchs refurb.

John. I was surprised at the engine carrier too. The 964 one is even more under endowed than the 993 one which is pathetic enough. Good work on getting the dissy out and replace the rotors and belts. People only usually do this when they fair. Check coil packs/leads are working well too with spec resistance....

No fixed date, I have to go to Hamilton today so am pushing off early to get to the auto trimmers in Te Awamutu first with the leather. Will drop in on the car as well. Update from Steve is that they have a list of things to do from the compliance crowd. Next track day is dubut.

I guess it is designed to be adequate for expected use, it's just a precaution for the extra stress from track use.

I will check the Ignition circuit resistance but not replacing any other parts as a precautionary measure unless they are on the way out as this hole is deep enough as is.
