NZ Hondas forum, it's a different world there. $150 is certainly cheap. I reckon there's 8 or more hours work in it, if he can get the axle hub nuts off I tried swinging off a 750mm breaker bar and they still wouldn't budge. I know the Grinch is easier because they've already been loosened.

Was the breaker bar a 3/4 drive one? I found using 1/2 set with a 600 mm bar I could not budge it. With a borrowed 3/4 drive with breaker bar it was less effort than taking wheel nuts off. After that I just bought a cheap set as the amount of times it would get used is very seldom compared to the other sized sets

1/2 inch as the specialist socket is that size. To be honest I'm happy to let someone budge this one. Imagine 100kg jumping on the end of the 750mm bar.

I've tried the same originally with a 600 mm long bar and a jack handle on the end to help...even jumping on it it would not do it..get one of these cheap sets (bought same thing) but haven't needed to use it yet. It's actually handy to use sockets for the shop press..

I've tried heat with a propane torch. It worked brilliantly on a lower control arm in the past but not here. I think the heat on the track has an impact on this, as the hub would be heated a lot in each race.

Thankfully Herman has had an engine and gearbox removal in the last two years so this isn't going to be an issue there with exhaust bolts etc.

A good read. That 964 is getting a lot of media exposure. Some nice cars in the road run as well.

I can't remember who has got what out there, but I've just purchased a set of 18" Z221s for the R and now need to source some rims.

Yes, I know it's better to buy rims first, but I didn't want to get gazumped on my favourite tyres, the Z221 when there were only three 265/35/18 in the Country. That plus a full set of track rubber at $1,829 is too good to pass up and I have huge confidence in these on the track

Ideally, Cayman S wheels would fit, but there must be options out there. I'm fitting 235/40/18 and 265/35/18. Yes, I know I should have bought the OZ wheels off Chris, but that was a while ago and the eventual buyer, Trundle, isn't a seller, apparently.

A bit of a random post, but worth it all the same as you dont know what people have in their garages. Does anyone know if a Renault Megane R26 in yellow that could be for sale in NZ? My Father is on the look out for one:

My roadies are 18" and I'd love to sell those so I could buy some nice OZ 19's... But they have newish tyres (PS2) and so wasn't looking to do this til they were getting close to being finished.
