Any Rennlisters from New Zealand?
John. Paul can chime in here for NZ. Ive done a fair bit of building here (6 residential homes) and we would typically slab at 100-125mm with mesh reinforcing. Never less than 100mm (4") depending on load/useage. MPa probably more important than thickness truth be told. My guess is that you would have a 100-125mm slap in your garage and that it will be steel reinforced. Lift takes maximum load 2800kg but your car is half that so well within working perimeters. Providing the stud patter, bolt/fastening specs and gross weight of vehicle and lift to an engineer (may be one amongst us on here should quickly conclude if 100mm slab is sufficient for this product and application. Im fairly certain you will find you are ok...
Nice house for someone else - they use the space as a gym and the cars live outside??
The solution is simple for a hoist point load, take a concrete cutter to your existing garage slab, cut a 800x800 square, drill some starters into the sides and dig down 300mm. Order an min delivery of half a cube of concrete for $200 (find a home for the balance) and pour good old fashioned foundation pads x 2.
This is what I was planning to do as the garage was to be carpeted.
If you are building a garage just make sure to not use a pod system, there are reported cases of car enthusiasts punching the slab over pods when jacking. I always pour the garage 125mm thick. Only costs another $100 in concrete.

Booked her into Contis over a fortnight ago to get a post-Targa oil leak sorted. Not leaking enough to damage the engine commuting but a track day might've been pushing it. Dropped her off for that this morning. I suppose I might get lucky and have her back in time but they're dropping the engine as it looks to be high up on the front, near the parcel shelf. Possibly the oil reservoir filler neck gasket but they'll know when they get there. They said it was not uncommon for those to go on Turbos and GT3s. Kind of wish they'd mentioned that last time the engine was out as it would've been good to do it then proactively. I asked them again what other rubber bits up front are worth renewing while there but they said nothing really. Anyone here have recommendations?

Understand that predicament. I tried to get the pipes pinned early this year, proactively, and was talked out of it...
While the engine was out I've just replaced all the coolant hoses that are prone to failure, as well as the electric pump for coolant to the turbos. Unsure how closely it resembles the 996 setup but can't imagine they're all that different. When the engine is out it's pretty easy to spot any bulge in a rubber hose.

993 tiptronic - seems cheaply priced. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=917855975
Thanks Warwick. Good to see it out of the car park today. The activity levels around it look more italian than german, but they were still just opening up for the day by the looks of it.
Snap - if only they hadn't talked me out of pinning my coolant pipes the first time one went.
Will have them look over the hoses again but there's no electric pump on the 996T to worry about. Wish there was though as it would be more convenient than letting the car idle to cool the turbos before locking it after a run.
The Motorhood just ran an article on the recent Dunlop 800:

Hi guys,
I've been lurking for quite some time and thought it was about time to say hi on this board.
I'm from Central Auckland but moved to London just over a year ago as work opportunities were too good here in London.
I'm on the hunt for a 996 Turbo or ideally a 996/997 GT3 (but these are a little out of my budget at the moment in the U.K, and with Porsche prices continuing to climb in the U.K I fear they'll always be out of reach.)
I'm torn between trying to buy one in the U.K or keep trawling through Trademe.
There's tonnes on Pistonheads, but a manual 996 turbo with less than 60,000 miles is now North of £40,000.
There's a nice silver 996 Turbo on trademe with 64,000km on the clock for $73,995. Its sat for a while though?
Does anyone know where the Dark blue 2003 X50 996 Turbo with factory Aero ended up? It was only on Trademe for 3 days at $75,000 in mid May before it disappeared. Plate was 911X50 and the seller was jmkc in Auckland.
Looked a lovely car and spec from the photos and for the price far better than anything I can find here in the U.K for similar money.
There was also a Black 2002 996 GT2 for sale for a few months back at the start of the year on Trademe. It was listed for $95,000 and had traveled 46,000km. The seller was listed as based in Blenheim.
That same car turned up on Pistonheads a month or two back listed with DK Engineering for £110,000

Judging by the NZ prices and maybe with the NZD dropping against the £, am I better to try and find a car in NZ and sit on it for 6 months and then try and bring it to the U.K to enjoy?
Does anyone know of anyone in NZ tempted to part with their 996 Turbo or 996/997 GT2/3?
Do I keep trawling Trademe or do you guys have a secret brotherhood of cars for sale? 😃
Thanks in advance for the help.
