So see Stu and Aero Automotive, only $75hr and specialises in the air cooled stuff.

He will also sort out your alignment, or so see Andy via Giltrap Services dept, probably the best in the business for alignments.

You have to post a pic of your car mate (it's a rule...........)

I was thinking the same thing, but at $600K, Singer should be solving these things to some degree. I can't imagine they would leave stock?

Watched a Singer review a while back and it came to the same conclusion, beautifully made piece of performance art but not a ten tenths road or track car.

Phil, have you got a link to that Turbo vs F40 drag race? Keen to enjoy. An F40 should normally take a stock 996T but the T is easier to launch consistently (within a few tenths anyway) as it is AWD. Was it run on a dry dragstrip or a less grippy surface where the Turbo's holeshot advantage came into play? Or maybe the ~1M F40 was accorded more mechanical sympathy/had a boost leak/was on old tyres?

Not that there's a big a gap as might seem. I believe Porsche understate their performance specs and Ferrari tend to overstate so they are closer than manufacturer figures suggest (it doesn't take too much of an upgrade to put get a 996T up to or beyond a stock F40, but then again F40s take upgrades well too).

Since seeing one do its thing in Switzerland I still really want to drive an F40 some time.

Try over 800k NZD landed and about 2.5 years wait list. Has stiffening, CF custom panels and the new 4.0L engine (390/310lbft). The coupe version with this engine is faster than a GT4 and apparent,y gives older cup cars a run for their money when it's shod with Hoosiers!!

I can certainly help you in the paint department.

Here's that review on a Singer 911. The track bit starts just before 22min and has a few too many qualifiers and caveats for me to consider it a ten tenths track car out of the box. That was back in 2013 though so maybe they've sorted their track manners further since.

^^^^^ the pity is I bet most of those rich beggars who buy them hardly ever drive them. These cars are amazing. Classic with real go go. They need to be driven hard and lots. I think Steve's 964 RS would be more like me though. Rough and raunchy

Macca,

I love Singers, but think there is too much BS over performance stat's. It only has 400-ish HP.

That R&T report reckons a 1,250KG Singer with 390HP will acceleratate to 100KPH in 3.3 sec's, that's like 1 sec quicker than a 996 GT3 RS with same HP, or half a sec quicker than a 997 4.0 RS with launch assist on, or as fast as the 997 GT2 RS with 612HP

Seriously, I doubt a Singer is as quick as a 997 GT2 RS??

I stand to be corrected - but other Porsches with similar power/weight ratio's are about 1 sec slower - so seem's total bollocks to me. But then I have never driven a Singer and maybe Singer have some special power/ wieght, physic's defying 'sauce' they put in the cars (like NOS??)
