Any Rennlisters from New Zealand?
I'll look at panamera. It's not an easy task given all the obvious volume examples are already being imported. I wonder if the key is with lotus or Renault?

Pete a manual Cayman S may indeed be the only car so far that kinda works given scarcity of such examples in NZ. If we call this the strawman keen to tap the collective knowledge on other ideas.
The BMW 330 diesel could also be a viable solution as I see are scarce in NZ and the 3.0 D donk is well regarded

The idea of thrashing an Elise or Exige around Europe still appeals to me!
I considered importing a few Elise's on the back of a euro trip, but it was about 7 years ago. Looking into it I found that while there weren't many available in NZ, the ones that were here didn't move often. I haven't looked again recently so the market may present more of an opportunity?

Because things are slow around here I thought of a question Id like all your help on answering:
If you were going to the UK for a holiday this year and you had 30K GBP )approx 65K NZD) to spend on a used car which you could drive while holidaying there then export to New Zealand (assume VAT exempt) what vehicle would you choose? It can be sporty or otherwise but ideally something thats a bit different, a bit of fun, not common in NZ and which would be economically viable to buy, export and use in NZ without massive depreciation over a a few years useage as a fun daily driver?
Im curious to what people recommend. Pistonheads.co.uk classifieds provides a handy market resource tool.
Any thoughts?

Dave actually I had similar issue after seeing your post today....
Walt. looks like the Exige S could be a contender. 18-20K GBP and around 70K in NZ...

^^^^I was just looking at Pistonheads the other day and E90 M3's look cheap as did A45 AMG's, but you don't like those from memory of a recent post. Me old man just got a GLA after years of E500's (and taking massive bath's with each one) and rates it highly, as do I, for something different. New Euro sedans are a mugs game now, too expensive and drop too fast, much better in a Euro SUV which is a bit sad but things like the GLA 45 AMG make this a little more appealing.

Dave. Thanks for the GLA idea. Will add it to the data base. Im actually a big fan on the E90 M3 (preferably MT with sports pack). Im a fan of BMW product. The 1M my pick of the bunch but the values still high. The car I test drove and was not overly impressed with was the new F80/82 M3/M4. I test drove that shortly after release last year and wrote on here my views - views I now find are common on EVOs test fleet car so I dont think I was imagining things. The Stop/start function drove me mad on that car too...but lets not go there.
The A45 AMG I have looked at very closely. Its a performance bargain in NZ like the Golf r because the price NZ new is around 85K and translates well from GB pricing. However I find it ugly (The Gold R would be my choice at around 80K). Both are outside the remit price wise and arbitrage wise probably not much in them as I say.
The GLA Ill look into and add to the list...yes a spreadsheet would be useful but finding 10-20 vehicles to compare is where we are at on this thread.
EVO Integral. Now theres an interesting thing. However Im thinking a car that old in the UK may well be in need of alot of work?
