Strip the wheels and light buckets out, sell those to Pete and the remaining car will fit the budget

What did you end up doing about the tyre(s)?
Bought a single rear MPSS tyre locally for $890 fitted and balanced. Rears were only down to 5.75mm (from 8mm new) so shouldn't be an issue running a new tyre.

Was $2500 landed vs $1800 fitted locally to get the RS3's from Tire Rack. No one locally could source current version fronts to match the rears, and I couldn't find an Aus retailer willing to sell me any, so went with the single tyre option.

Fair call makes sense and I think you made the right decision...

Agree with your prediction that our run of cheap tyres is all but over. Out of curiosity, did any of you price up MPSC2's locally? Looks like $3700 landed from Tire Rack currently.

My MPSS were $2200 landed (I think) when I bought them in last year. Looks like $2700 now due to exchange rate and slight cost increase at Tire Rack. Locally they'd be $2900 fitted and balanced, negating any value in importing, although I expect this is based on stock bought in when the kiwi was much stronger.

Had posted about CAT D UK cars offering 20% price discount. But, on consideration don't think the NZ market would be keen. Doesn't take much at UK tech. rates to write a car off, though.

Max rang me while I was in Perth to ask if the Turbo 3.6 had sold. When I said yes he told me that an Australian Turbo 3.6 had sold for AUD 450k. Their market is limited for imports. We need to export as many cars as we can to get prices up

Max is always good for a story or two. What he probably didn't mention is the Australian car import tariffs are about to me removed in the next few months as the Australian car manufacturing industry is now dead. The market in Australia is about to change immensely. The dealers in Australia are nervous but keeping a straight face. New Porsche prices are about to fall with the tariffs and the jap imports will flood in . It's going to change the face of the Australian euro new and used market. A few collectors there have been bailing out over the last 6 months.

FYI a 7.2 GT3 RS was advertised and sold privately in Feb for 230k AUD as Stuart here knows. Private sales were moving around 230-275k a few months ago when I looked into it with some 7.2 RS owners for him over there..
