Well, you know.........when you're a centrefold you can get away with that........
We certainly did have an enjoyable day despite the weird on and off again weather.

Matakana Run
Due to popular demand, we did another run. This time from Auckland to Matakana - specifically Morris and James Pottery.
A very nice place with a Cafe and out door seating under trees.
We drove straight up the motorway heading north through the new tunnel to Warkworth and then east to Matakana. On the way back we went..........some other way.
Seven 964's, a 911SC and a Lancia made for a cool drive.

Twas indeed a good drive........especially on the way back! From Warkworth we headed west to Kaipara Coast highway via some nice back roads.
It would have been very easy to have just stayed outside under the shade of those trees and wile away the rest of the day with food, coffee and pleasant company.
I do believe one of the guys is planning for another run in late January........i'll let you know.
Another thing i want to do is a picnic/track day at Hampton Downs next year but that will depend on numbers etc etc.
Personally i think every day should be like Sunday!

Well if it's any consolation I was in San Francisco where it was crowded to the max everywhere, windy and about 10 degrees. I know where I would rather have been.
Got home this morning, and it is nice to be back in summer!

Nick, if you are looking to do Hampton Downs, playdayontrack are a good bunch to do it with, they have 2 in January, the 10th and 30th. I did one there with them last month and will also do the one on Jan 30. Contrary to some peoples belief, the track days are extremely well organised, no nonsense is tolerated, and you can have a great day. All your mates could be on the track at the same time, I would love to see 7 964s are trundling around together. Cheers, Craig.

Good idea..........
Hi CBNZ,
That Playdayontrack sounds pretty damn good. Is it only $145 per car?
I was thinking of doing it in April or May, hiring the 2.8km track for a Sunday and mostly avoiding having to many other cars on the track at once. It certainly isn't going to be "racing" but more a social/picnic thing. It means that the wife and son could drive around without damaging anything or feeling the pressure to push the limits too hard.
Thanks for the info though, well worth looking at.
Everything of course depends on the numbers who are interested.
Cheers,
Nick

Yes, just $145/driver. With Playday, you start at 5 second intervals, up to a max of around 10-12 cars. By lunchtime, only the keen ones are left, and you can get a lot of laps in. Your wife, son (and yourself!) have no need to be nervous. You just need a helmet and a seatbealt. You may remember me, I had a white 964C4, which you gave me a photo of after one of the PCNZ events at Puke. Cheers, Craig.

You sold your 964 and went to the dark side?
I'm not sure it's socially acceptable for me to speak to you now that you pump water...........

I've just noticed something........
There are three of us here, so to speak, yet from Sunday to today there have been at least 75 views of this thread.
Between us we could probably account for a dozen or so views.

Count me in for one of the views. Just checking out what you guys are up to in the north. Had the Southern PCNZ Xmas lunch on Sunday. A good turnout but I didn't have the camera.
Tania, Steve Tretheway lives near me and our sons are in the same class at school! Small world.

Drifting
Count me in as well. My car should be all good again soon.
Good to see there's a little NZ group keeping tabs. I'd love to try the Hampton Downs thing one day.
Merry Christmas too.

HD is booked pretty solid as far as weekends go and a private hire might be a bit cost prohibitive fore a small group (~$5k/day) but like Craig, I can recommend Playday on Track.
Might be worth looking into a twilight booking at HD though - I think its from 5.00pm to 7.00pm
