Yes he did do a lot better in the last 6 races , but he took too long to show pace ,

He should be able to pick up a place not sure where, as he might not fit in with Toyota's plans.......

Too bad Gronholm finished 2nd in WRC, if he had won, it would've been pretty sweet.

Go Alonso ! ! !
What bet do you want to take to offset my prediction that Renault will not do better than this year or will have the speed to compete with Ferrari, Mac or BMW? And there is nothing your hero can do about it.

His choices were super worse Toyota, worse Honda/Red Bull and medium worse Renault. He obviously took the latter because he had no other choices or offers no matter what spin DJ Waynsky put on. That does not speak to highly about a recent a two time WDC.

BTW, Alonso will never drive a F car, you can take that to the bank.

Mr. Alonso is so polarising. Why is that? Hummmmm. What helmet will he throw in addition to his temper tantrums after a 9th place finish 4 times in the row next year?

Remember, Wayne, he had no imput in the developement of the 2008 Renault.... unless you count the documents he might have lifted from Mac, who lifted them from Ferrari. Kind of incestuous, no? Flavor Flav coddles ALonso as much as Dennis Coddles Hamilton, as much as Monti coddles Kimi....

Don't worry, at least he'll be happy at Renault

Still rambling before you get your Milky , huh pete,

Flav coddles no one and where did you get that on Kimi, MS was the most cuddled driver in the history of the sport , so there is proof it works, if Kimi get's the same at ferrari he might also win 5.

The driver never designs nor have anything to do with the design of the car , it is that final 5% that they bring to the table in testing and fine tuning the car to make it work for them , this is what Alonso brings to the table. The Renault stepped up in the final 5 races , with Alonso this step up should take place sooner, if that 08 Renault makes the podium by Canada , you will have to buy all Listers at the GP dinner at a restaurant of my choosing Biaaatch !

Wayne, didn't get your reply on this, how many bottle you want to bet that Alonso doesn't drive for Ferrari F1 team in 2009?

I'm ok with only one bottle but since his deal is for 2 years, how about 2 bottles?

Wayne, your post is the reason I'm sending you the gift of knowledge for Christmas, the book "Michael Schumacher, The Whole Story".

Maybe not all drivers, but this particular driver spent countless hours with the designers, engineers, mechanics going over the car development each year. He was such a pain in the **** to the designers in particular because he would always comment how he believed the seams/gaps on the body work could be tighter here, more snug there to minimize the aero pressure over the car. The car would go back to the factory for new body work countless times before the start of the season on his requests.

I give you just one example. I won't spoil the ending for you

Pete Ms did not design the car, the engineering dept did and i'm sure other top drivers got as involved in such details as MS. Drivers like MS brings that last 5% to the table , they help with the transition from CAD to Human , making the setup work for the driver. Ferrari allowed this type of involvement, where teams likes williams would not , allowing the engineers to dictate car setup, both montoya and villeneuve complained about this at williams....

A nicely done video montage of the 07 season. Not much Ferrari Red until the final 30 seconds...when it counts.
