louver - thanks so much for the input. It was really helpful. I will likely only charge the car the way you describe, so you are right, the 7.2kW onboard charger is probably overkill. It's just such an integral part of the car, though...something to think about. Sort of like paying $800 to remove a 120mph limiter even though you know you will probably never drive that fast.
Also, great to know that the luggage cover isn't as bad looking. as I imagined. I'm probably overthinking it, if that is possible on a car purchase that's more $$ than my first AND second houses
I recently ordered a 4S E-Hybrid and also agonized over whether to get the 7.2kw onboard charger. In the end, I went for it. While I anticipate almost always charging overnight, I may decide to charge while out and about if there is an open charger at a mall or shopping center or wherever—these chargers charge by time and not kw so it really makes no sense from a cost standpoint to pay if you’re charging at the super slow rate of 3.6kw/hr. So that in addition to doubling the speed, makes it more worthwhile to charge when out and about. I also figured having the faster charging capability is good for resale value. You may not charge outside your house/overnight but someone else may want to do it and they may rule out your car if it doesn’t have the faster 7.2kw option.
Also this has been said about the retractable luggage compartment cover, but I added it too because it was a free option and can be removed if you don’t like it. So why not!

Fair points on the 7.2kW. I don't know anything about commercial charging stations, so yes, half the cost sounds good. I agree, will probably get it just to future-proof for when there are charging stations in every parking lot. Hey that 1.2 trillion dollars has to go somewhere- includes 10's of billions for charging stations.
If you order the retractable cover, don't they delete the fixed one? And I was surprised to hear that the retractable cover and the rear blind are two different bars. I saw a video where they looked like one.

Yea there will be increasingly more and more charging stations so totally makes sense to “future proof” as you said. I live in CA and it already looks like charging stations are everywhere!
The standard features do list “fixed luggage compartment cover” so it would make sense that if you spec the “retractable” one you’d get that in lieu of the fixed one. Wouldn’t make sense to have both. But again, why not get the retractable one? It’d be easier to operate and/or remove, no?
Just joined - I bought "new to me" 2020 Panamera 4 E-Hybrid with 6,800 miles and CPO. Amazing car - I love everything about it. Looking forward to digging into these posts and finding out how everyone else is getting along with their vehicles and best mods. I'm looking for a slightly louder exhaust and ECU tune (ODB2 preferred).

You are right. What I wrote above about two different bars is simply not correct. When you questioned it, I physically went out to the car and checked, and there is indeed only a single bar with both the retractable cover and the rear blind. Also, we did not receive a fixed cover but only the retractable one. I'm sorry for misleading you earlier.

I passed on some CPO Turbo S e-hybrids that didn't have the 7.2kW chargers. Getting it is the right choice. The beauty of the e-hybrid system is the ability to have fantastic economy or fantastic speed. It's up to you, but you gotta have the juice to do it. Charging onboard from the engine is OK, but being to charge in 2 hours gives you that great flexibility. It's not DC supercharger fast, but it's quick enough during a meal, a client meeting, etc.

This is what I love about my Pannie! I commute 43 miles each way (yep, 86 miles a day) on the FL Turnpike and surface streets and am averaging 30-31 mpg! I do NOT baby it...well, I do when I am in full battery for 23 miles - set the cruise at 75...but when it cuts over to ICE, I hammer it! And the drive home on ICE is always spirited. Thank God for my Escort Laser Jammer/Radar Detector... ;-)
Has anyone experience with hybrid cooling related codes P0C32 and/or P023B?
The dealer cannot recreate these codes nor diagnose any problem that may be triggering them; they've had the vehicle in twice for diagnosis.
I've encountered these codes 3 times with the battery at approx 30%, after driving in E-vehicle mode from approx 60-70% remaining - ambient temp 83F (my drive home from work). My 2015 has a 11-12mi range battery.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I doubt that this will help you, but for what it's worth...
My 2018 4E-Hybrid had a problem after initial delivery that took a long time to diagnose. The symptom was the Check Engine Light, which was decidedly intermittent. I don't know what the fault codes were, but they indicated the hybrid cooling system. Finally the service team (after hours and days on the phone with support in Germany) found that a coolant hose had been installed at the factory with too much torque. It was twisted, such that the flow of coolant was restricted but not blocked entirely. This partial blockage presumably accounted for the intermittent nature. The reason it took so long to find the problem was that this hose involved the hybrid battery and was located at the back. Only when they removed the rear bumper could it even be seen. Once they replaced the hose (and cleared air from the lines) everything was fine. We've had no further problem with it.
I realize that your car may have a different cooling design, so maybe your issue is completely different. Anyway, good luck.
Well, I have spent about a month working through this extremely informative thread, and reliving your adventures - Wilson, buddy, I would have considered Hari Kari after all the troubles you have had. And the Porsche on the brick wall - I had to wipe a tear or two away. The COVID battery storage section was, simply put, poignant. Meanwhile I have learned so much, and am happy to say, am in the midst of ordering a 2022 P4 E-hybrid for European Delivery, if the world allows. Long time 911 owner.
Regarding my build - I posted this question elsewhere but didn't get a lot of responses. Hoping to make it a little more interactive with specific questions - please chime in!
Carmine Red/Chalk interior - anyone think the chalk is too hard to take care of?
7.2kW onboard charger - Overnight charging will be with 240/50 but mostly to future proof when there are chargers at destinations. Heck, it's only a grand...and another grand..and another
Thermal/Noise glass and cell service - sounds like you lose 1/2 to 1 bar - I am in an area with spotty cell but REALLY like quiet cars. Anyone just driven mad with cell service inside dual pane glass? Is this really an issue you notice?
Wood (Walnut) trim - looks classy to me
Rear steering - hoping it will help parking in my 90 degree garage turn in, plus, I've driven it once and it was flat out cool.
Rear side window shades - seems like a good idea - gets hot here
Rear shade/retractable luggage/cardboard luggage cover - I really am stumped here. I will RARELY pull the retractable cover closed - generally remove them from my cars. I guess if you get it and the rear shade, it is one big unit? If you get the shade and cardboard cover, is the shade in a bar by itself? How does the cardboard luggage cover look - do you just leave in in there all the time? Comments on this would be super helpful.
Night vision - Monthly, I drive more than an hour each way on one lane, 55 mph, windy AWESOME farm roads on my trip north. These are the roads I am buying the Porsche for. Makes a business drive into a recreational one. Now, When I have to do it in twilight, though, I go a more established route as the deer are everywhere. Will this actually significantly prevent deer encounters of the first kind?
I got the Assistance and Premium packages. No real questions.
PDLS+ - I wish I could go back in time and tell the 2017-2018 gang not to hold their breath. For yet one more $grand, any thoughts on whether Porsche will ever free the matrix demons if the rules change? Will the rules change? Can't believe this has lingered for 8 years.
14 Way seats - as a pretty chubby guy (250+), I have been talked out of the 18 way seats, because the side bolsters, particularly the chair back, will be too narrow even with the adjustments. Could really use some help here. It's only one more grand
Massage - if I don;t get the 18 way, there will be this one grand sitting around that needs to be spent - will make the wife happy.
Again, great reading all the information you guys have provided and well worth the 171 page read. Thanks in advance.
Some quick thoughts from my ~8 months with my '21 4S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo ...
2. I usually leave my car plugged in to charge overnight. However, on a few ~2.5-3 hour hikes, we've parked at public chargers and have been able to fully charge the battery for the drive home ... it would not have fully charged if we didn't have the 7.2kW charger.
3. I have the thermal / noise insulating glass ... I love it, and have not noticed any cell connection issues.
5. I like the rear steering ... living in Switzerland, there are many tight parking spots & small parking garages ... helps a lot.
11 & 12. I went with the 14-way so I could get massaging seats ... in fact, we got them front & rear with heating & ventilation. I actually find the 18 way seats in my 911 more comfortable (I'm ~210 lbs) and the 14 ways not quite as supportive, but the massage is worth seats that are a little less supportive during spirited driving.

Thanks for the input! I will spend more hours on I-95 than on the backroads, so that was good advice. Same on the 7.2kW - after some thought, scrimping $840 on one of the core features didn't make sense.
I have a build sheet and allocation now, so unless I change things, she has:
Carmine Red
Chalk Leather
7.2kW
Anthracite Abachi trim/wheel
Thermal Glass
Night Vision
PDLS+ Matrix LED
Assistance Pkg (innodrive, surround, etc.)
Premium Pkg (HUD, Bose, etc)
Rear wheel steering
Massage
Power sunblinds
Leipzig Delivery
Most here, I am sure, will hate me for leaving the standard 19" wheels on, but 19" already seems large for a guy whose first 911 had 15" Fuchs rims, if I recall correctly I may get them powder coated black to keep up with the times, at least a little.
1. There is a pocket in the center console on the 971 where you can place your cell phone and link to the car's antenna, negating any signal loss due to the glass. I was the only one driving around in Death Valley that had cell service so that antenna is pretty good.
2. Check on the tire options at someplace like TireRack for the 19 and 20" wheels. The 20" may give you more tire choices that you want to consider.

I did a cursory check of tires for the 19” rims with the intent of perhaps buying all season tires. As you imply, there was literally zero choices that I could find, searching by make and model. I’ll think harder. I can live with summer tires but A/S would be better. $2K for the 20” though.
I have a 2018 Panamera ST e-hybrid. And I am not even sure what PCM version that it came with. Does anyone know if the PCM can be upgraded thru the dealer or over-the-air from third party? Is PCM just a software or it is entirely new hardware in the later year model?
Also, after owning the car for three years, I just noticed that there is a small button at the bottom of the B-pillar next to the driver seat. Any idea what is that for?
