Panamera 4 E-hybrid Owners Thread
AJ,
Well that doesn't seem right that earlier builds should be sidelined and later builds are delivered first?? I'm hoping either PCNA or my Dealer will be able to find out exactly what is causing the delay. So far no luck. I did see on the internet that BMW in Leipzig is waiting for steering parts from Bosch and they are delayed so maybe that is the problem? At least it is good news from Hymo that production actually will start up mid August as I thought they closed down for the entire month.

Sidelined maybe not quite right. The car was finished and then moved somewhere awaiting the software. When software finalised it got applied straight to cars already on the production line, so some just went straight to the boat whereas there was a backlog of cars awaiting the update which took a few weeks to clear.
Hope you get a clear answer soon - we can all empathise!!

Boot indeed...thanks.
If it helps - when ours were delayed, they kept making them but then stuck them in a warehouse for the software update. By the time June came around, cars were getting update on the production line and then leaving before ours. No indication of any delay.
Thor - I had the error message cleared re the "Inspection Necessary". Porsche Reading said that Porsche Germany had issued a bulletin for this issue but no fix, so they think it will come back at some point...

Hey all!
I'm new to the forum and have recently ordered the new Panamera 4e hybrid. I should be getting it around November. I currently have a base 2015 911 991.1. I honestly loved the car and still do. Its packaged with the sport exhaust, sport chrono and PDK. Although it was an amazing sports car, I just feel like I want a bigger car. Its honestly been very hard to decide to switch. I think living on the east coast and constantly being in the city has cemented my decision though. The bumpiness is just too annoying.
I attached my build. As you can tell, I spec'd it to my budget, as I try to stay away from going overboard. I just can't decide what to do about the sports exhaust. I have it on my 911 and it is ridiculous. However, that is a 3.4 flat v6. NO turbos. I can't tell if the sports exhaust really adds much.
I posted two links below. The first has the e hybrid no exhaust, you can listen at 0:54.
This one I think has the sport exhaust, but it sounds sort of the same.. right?
I mean its annoying that Porsche made it a 3500 option, but I just don't like the car without the quad exhaust look, so its either the sports tailpipes or tack on an extra 2500 for the exhaust. Ive heard with the new turbo engines you can really only hear the difference at higher speeds. Any advice? Doubtful anything will sound close to my 911 now. Any other comments suggestions?
BTW, I've been quoted the electric rebate based on old 2016 model, anybody have info on the new rebate. I kind of want to probe my dealership but on the off chance its less I would rather not. I also attached a few picks of my 911. Cheers!

The standard exhaust is surprisingly good, but I think the sport exhaust adds in highs revs and when downshifting.
Why didn't you add full leather? I think it's a must on the Panamera to enjoy the quality of interior.

I thought full leather was foo-foo stuff until I compared my wife's 981 with full leather to my Panamera with standard interior. Then I really, really wished I'd gone full leather.
Sports Exhaust has always struck me as a waste of money, since it's purely a sound effect, but I know I'm in the minority on this. Over and over again in the 911 forums I'll see people recommending the sports exhaust as a "must" even though it doesn't actually do anything for performance.
In the US - you are in the US, right? - the EV credit is based on battery size. It's $2500 + (battery size - 5kWH, rounded down) * $417, maximum $7500. The 4eH has a 14.2 kWh battery, so it's $2500 + $417 * 9 = $6,253. The IRS hasn't updated their list of vehicles yet, but that's how it's calculated.

Thanks for the replies!
I wish one of these hybrid owners would post a rev video of their cars, that would be interesting to actually see. I totally get why some ppl think its a waste of money, thats why I am so torn. Is it really worth it?? I mean the 911 was a huge difference, is the Panamera really that drastic? Thats my real question.
As far as the interior goes, Ive sat in both the base Panamera 4 with standard and the turbo with black/chalk and a 4s with the boredux red. I honestly don't care about the dash being covered in leather. Its just something I don't notice or care about much. (Its also annoying that a car with a base price of 99k doesn't have standard full leather..but thats another argument..classic Porsche). One could argue the same about the exhaust but I guess it just comes down to personal preference tho. Im little younger than the typical Panamera owners so my taste is slightly different. I'd love to hear more thoughts!
Thanks for the tax info, I got quoted 4752.50, but again based on the 2016 model (which Im not sure the kwh for that was) wonder if that formula works for the 2016 model
great discussion tho, Thor or aj, post an exhaust vid please! thanks all!

Welcome, 911topanamera!
I came from a 991.1 C2 to my new Panamera 4. My 911 had PDK and sports exhaust, but no sport chrono. My Panamera has PDK (obviously) and Sport Chrono, but no sports exhaust. I am actually impressed with how good the standard exhaust sounds! I too prefer the twin tailpipe look and am likely to upgrade to Sport tailpipes (I could not spec them on my original order) but I won't bother going the full hog with Porsche sports exhaust.
Cheers,
Simon

Looking at the IRS page I made two errors. The text says "$2500 + $417 + $417 x (kWh - 5)." I left out $417, and I rounded down, which apparently you don't do. This math works for the PSeH, which had a 9.4 kWh battery. $2500 + $417 + $417 x 4.4 = $4751.80 exactly.
So the correct figure is $2500 + $417 + $417 x 9.2 = $6,753.40, not my earlier figure. Disclaimer: I am not a tax attorney. Do double check when actually doing your taxes, presumably they'll have an official entry by then.
EDIT: Also, it's possible His Trumpness may repeal the EV tax credit, given his stance on related subjects. What matters is the tax law when you file your taxes, not when you buy the car.
OK, I did promise an exhaust video so have put it in the diary for Saturday morning. Ideally would mount a go pro on the exhaust but may have to settle for the wife hanging the phone out the window for now!
The new exhaust does sound good but I'd say it's more grown-up than a barking dog. It was not an option on 2017 models and I will keep checking-in with the dealer to see if it becomes a retrofit option. Personally I would go with it BUT, this is a car that encourages you to drive in a civilised manner versus my previous C2S which begs to be revved. So 75% of the time it's E mode or E-Hybrid and 25% it's Sport +. I do miss the burble burble on changing down and would be prepared to spend the money should any be found under the sofa.
Consider the 4 way climate screen? Not that useful but looks awesome.

also have two kids and they will love the screen in the back and I will need to shout several times, but agree with AJ, would still go for it because of the much better look and appearance in the back.
sports exhaust is even with this car a 100% go-for-it decision - even if the upside on the sound seems to be limited, the look alone is what makes a big difference in the look of the car from the back! a no-brainer for me on this!
Alcantara roof is for sure nice, but not worth 2K EUR/USD/GBP for sure!
soft-close doors - although I haven´t speccd it on my own at the beginning, seem to bring a lot of added value, as several people did recommend it here as well - so also spent this 700 EUR on this!
