Panamera 4 E-hybrid Owners Thread
#151
the sport tailpipes have now appeared on the techquipment site for those with Panamera4's or hybrid models. up until my car arrived i was convinced i'd be ordering them but having owned the car for a few weeks the squared tailpipe look has really grown on me to the point i've ditched the idea of the sport tailpipes and will be keeping the the squared off versions. have to say they look a lot better IRL than they did on the configuration mock-up on web site.

Thanks Gus_Smedstad! I actually contacted EV website and here is their reply :" The IRS is responsible for establishing eligibility and administering the Federal tax credits. We are not tax experts and all the information we have comes from the IRS website which currently only lists the 2015 model......The 2017 Porsche Panamera 4 e-Hybrid should certainly qualify based on the rules: https://www.irs.gov/businesses/quali...ter-12-31-2009 and you can estimate the amount it should qualify for. If the battery capacity is calculated at 14.2 kW-hrs., then I come up with a credit amount of about $6,753 based on the rules as I understand them."
So have to wait for Porsche to do their job and send the info to the IRS.. hurry up.
ajriches01: That would be awesome! Def need to hear the beast. What made you switch from the c2s? I do get what you guys mean about the 4-climate zone in the back and Ive played with it a while at the dealership. I honestly don't want anyone controlling anything from the back tho and I kind of like the cubbie versus a 1400$ option that me or my fiancé will never use. Id rather spend the money on the entertainment system if anything.
I was debating the Rear wheel steering for a while as well but most ppl say they don't really notice it, and I garage park my car, don't really park in the city super often.
right now Im 30-70 for the exhaust, varies every hour

Part of it is my garage. I have to make a 90 degree turn from my driveway to enter the garage. My 911 can make it easily, coming or going. The Panamera could never make the turn in one go, I had to pull in at an angle, back out, and then pull in properly. Backing out was: back out, pull forward and stop, back up again, align correctly with the driveway.
Most garages don't have that problem, but just pulling in to a regular parking space, not parallel parking, I often had to back up and correct because I couldn't make a turn sharp enough to pull in properly on the first go.
The cameras were a huge boon for that sort of thing. I usually would deliberately get close enough to another car to trigger the parking sensors, or put it in reverse after stopping, which also triggers the cameras. The top-down cameras made it easier to see how I was doing on all four sides.

I see that this week the Sports Exhaust retro-fit has been added to Tequipment "Expected to be available 11/2017". Just in time for the hopeful bonus to be wasted .
Switch from C2S was motivated by the baby. I could fit her in the back but the combination of no space + noise + hard ride (991.2 is better than mine in fairness) meant that the 911 was rarely used and the wife wouldn't drive it. So now we have a car both of us enjoy driving and is quite special - with the X6 being the family tractor.
I have the entertainment system and it's the best I've seen - easy to use, stylish and combined with how comfortable the back is generally, really means that people shotgun the back seat now! I've said it before, but the turning circle of the Panamera is really impressive - so much better than the X6. My money would be on the exhaust instead.

I garage park my car, and the turning radius for the Panamera was a problem for me.

I do park in a hospital garage that is rather archaic to be honest. But I get there so early I park in the big spots.
Wing commander: thanks for the welcome! I definitely now what you mean about still wanting the sports tailpipes. Its just a really nice look, no knock the the squared off fans, thats nice as well. If I can get this tax credit to go through (I've contacted PFS) then def gonna option the sports exhaust, if I can't...I'll still probably end up caving and optioning it
AJ- beautiful car! definitely know what you mean about the bumpiness. Ive actually test drove the 991.2 c4 for a week and it was awesome. But frankly the bumpiness on the 20inch rims was pretty much the same. Also, I live near Virginia, which if anyone in this forums knows, has the most annoying cops on the planets. They instantly zero in on any sports car. Just not worth it anymore. Im looking forward to the Panamera
Ive also contacted racechip, a national tuner, and begged them to tune the 971 hybrid. As comparison, they tuned the cayenne 92A 3.0 s E-hybrid adding 82hp and 112 nm (82lbft). If they were able to do something near that, you're getting close to Panamera turbo levels. Anyways, just something interesting I was thinking about. Cheers!

911topanamera,
My car is similar to yours except I also went with Chalk (Crayon in Europe) paint, full leather Bordeaux/Black, Brake calipers in black, Ionizer, Park Assist Surround View, Adaptive Cruise Control, 4 Zone Climate Control, 7.2Kw Onboard Charger, and Voice Control (no cost option but you have to ask the Dealer to add it). Everything else same as yours. Saw no need for rear wheel steering or Sports Exhaust (too much money just to hear burbling on downshifts). As mentioned, if you don't like the squared off look you can always retrofit the four pipe exhaust setup later.
My car actually is built but is apparently waiting for some last minute adjustment (can't find out what) and thus all e-Hybrids have been held up and won't be completed until sometime in August or September. Still can't find out why??

Ordered my Panamera S e Hybrid April 15th, 2014 (yeah, tax day, go figure). Delayed a month past projection for some unknown reason. Arrived 8/18/2014.
It happens. It's one of the prices you pay for getting exactly what you wanted. The other being a lot of depreciation that first year.

Question for you though:You did pick the same rim option as me right? Have you seen this attached option. This is the first time Ive seen it and I can't help but wonder if I should switch. This is ISUK car. What do you think?
For those wondering, The tax specialist at PFS contacted me today and replied with this
"... We are currently in the application process with the IRS regarding the 2018 Panamera you mentioned and have not yet received confirmation/acceptance from them(should be within the next month or so). That being said, I cannot confirm the amount you read online per se but will say that it should be real close to that amount.
I recommend that you save my contact information as I am the one in our tax department that is handling the correspondence with the IRS and am happy to keep you informed. Please, don't be discouraged if you do not see your desired model on the IRS's website as we are equally confused as to why they have not even updated the site to reflect a few of our accepted models from prior years. I assure you that my tax colleagues and I have submitted letters to them requesting them to simply update the site to reflect the acceptance status that we have already received from them. We have not heard back from them on the matter but have been getting the normal quarterly correspondence from them stating the satisfaction status with the quarterly reporting we have continued to comply with."
Will update all after I get the response

Voice Control doesn't come standard. It is a no cost option but isn't listed on the configurator. Your dealer can add it. There is a lot of debate about how good it is or isn't, but I thought for free why not?? I have had it on all my last four cars (Lexus) and most of the time it works pretty well. Because the Panamera comes with Apple Play you can use Siri and thus I guess Porsche doesn't feel the voice control is really necessary, but I like having the ability to use it without Siri as well.

Regarding the wheels, yes I have the Sport Design 21" High Gloss Black. The wheels you show in the photo look nice but I like the classic look. I also have the High Gloss Black door handles as you do.

As promised:
Apologies, cardinal sin of filming in portrait. Over the next few weeks I will attach the Go Pro (if I can find it...) and film properly. Turn up the volume with some decent speakers to start your week off right!
